2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse Description
This is my roommate's car. One day he started it to go to work, backed up, and it died. It will turn over smoothly, but has never tried to start. It has to be the timing belt. The fuel pump is good. It will squirt at you. I have seen this before. Change the timing belt and it will run fine. The cam and/or crank position sensors are probably what killed the engine to prevent piston to valve contact when the belt skipped time a little. It died painlessly at idle. The recommended change interval is 60K and it has never been done. A new timing belt kit is included: timing belt, balance shaft belt, hydraulic tensioner, pulleys, and water pump. (Water pump is recommended because you have to remove it anyway) water pump change interval is 120K so it would make no sense not to change it. Factory installed 6-cd changer Rockford Fosgate stereo with sub. Factory anti-theft. The drivers door handle inside door is broken off and there is minor body panel damage as can be seen in the pics. The right rear seat belt is cut off because a kid wrapped it around his his neck. Everything else on the car is in working condition to our knowledge. One of the little plastic cleats that holds the cargo net is missing. Front tires 60% rear 90%. He has one key. The remote with the unlock, trunk buttons, and security chip is separate from the key. When it was one piece it broke and he lost the key so he just had another key made. You have to hold the remote close or touching the key to start it. It started fine like this for over a year. I will accept Paypal for the full selling price. I have noticed that in a couple pics it looks like there is a large ding in the hood off center toward the front driver side. It is not a ding. I just went and looked at the hood and there is nothing there. This car has a Virginia Title. I don't see that it matters but I thought I would mention.
