1904 Oldsmobile Other Description
Partially original and wonderfully patinated 1904 Curved Dash Olds. Sold new in Guadalajara Mexico, it is believed to have remained in Mexico with the same Jaramillo family until August of 2003 when it was sold by the great grandson of the original owner.
For all it's charm and Patina the Olds is not original, sometime between 1968 and 1991 the Olds engine was replaced with a 14 hp Wisconsin S-14D and turned into a parade car. The disposition of the 1904 engine is not known. The Olds retains all the rest of its original parts; including the brass lamps, brass tiller, top irons and badging. Some restoration work has been completed on the fenders which have been repainted and are off the car. Some deteriorated wood on the curved dash has also been replaced. That restoration work has not been sanded nor repainted. The car remains in the condition it was in at the time of the owners passing 5 years ago. It is currently carefully stored in a climate controlled environment in Oregon.
The car will be sold with Mexican paperwork and an Oregon Bill of Sale. The original serial number of the Olds was lost when the engine was replaced. The car will be sold "as is where is". The buyer must arrange transport in a reasonable amount of time after the sale (Short term Storeage may be negotiated with the seller). A $1000.00 deposit via Paypal is due 48 hours after the close of the auction. Further details for final payment will be arranged between the buyer and seller.
The car is for sale locally and the seller reserves the right to end the auction early. Since the Olds is 112 years old and has no odometer we had to assign a mileage number to get ebay to list it. The mileage is unknown, it has survived.
On Apr-25-16 at 00:08:53 PDT, seller added the following information:Several viewers have noticed details that are not consistent with this particular automobile being a Curved dash Olds, some even thought it may be a replica. It took some searching and cleaning of badges to find the true answer. It is not a Curved Dash Olds. It is an Olvera 1900 and it was made in Mexico. Apparently they are quite rare today. I have added some pictures an I am now trying to find out More about Olvera Automobiles. I may have to pull the auction to change the header. but we shall see.
On Apr-25-16 at 08:32:41 PDT, seller added the following information:I have researched and have found out that the Olvera 1900 was indeed a reproduction of the Curved Dash Olds, they were built in Cuernavaca Mexico between 1968 and 1992, which does make the Wisconsin make sense. Apparently they were one of the best Olds Reproductions and are fairly rare.
We don't want to try to fool anyone about what this car is, thanks to questions from ebay-ers we have discovered what we really have. It is a very cool 45 year old Reproduction. It is not a Real 1904 Olds as the owner was told when he bought it. For the moment we will try continue the auction, let me know what you think.
