1996 Oldsmobile 88 LS with 72,000 original miles. I bought this car from the second owner in 2014. The car runs and drives excellent for its age. It handles very well and is a very comfortable ride. The paint is in excellent condition overall as it was garaged for the vast majority of its life. There are a couple minor paint chips on the front and rear bumper. There is absolutely no rust on the body or underbody of this vehicle. The interior is in excellent condition as well. Reason for selling is we just purchased a fourth vehicle and have no need for it anymore.
Since I bought the car in 2014 it has had new spark plugs and wires, new brake lines, new 02 sensors, and a new coil tower. The car also has like new general all season tires with only 9,000 miles on them. The car has a new Four Seasons A/C compressor installed in June 2015 so you will have ice cold A/C for many years to come. Pennsylvania inspection until April 2017. Since I bought the car I have maintained a detailed service log including logging fuel economy for each tank of gas. We have averaged ~ 22 mpg around town driving and 27-29 mpg on the freeway.
Known problems include the passenger side rear window motor, and drivers seat power adjustment motor. The intake manifold gasket leaks coolant. The GM 3.8 L motors are notorious for this (do a google search). Fortunately this is not a serious issue as you just need to check your coolant level every so often and keep it topped off. Coolant color and engine oil has always looked excellent.
The car has a small misfire that is undetectable except when going up hills in overdrive. If you are going 60-65 mph plus in overdrive it is undetectable, but as your speed reduces closer to 50 mph, the engine rumbles a little bit until the transmission downshifts at which point the rumble dissapears. The only thing I can determine causing this is that one of the wires going to one of the fuel injectors is exposed and frayed a little. As I stated before the car gets good fuel economy if you don't have a lead foot. Since this was our third vehicle (now the fourth!) I decided to live with these issues. The car was a reliable transport for my wife going to and from work and if she wasn't complaining about it I was happy!
All and all for a 20 year old car it still has a ton of life left in it and really has been a great car for us.
Car is advertised locally on craigslist, search Cumberland Valley craigslist.
