1969 Oldsmobile 442 Description

This car is being listed for the widow of a long-time Southern California Oldsmobile collector. The car is an original and unmolested 1969 442. The car is a two-owner vehicle bought new at Trevallyan Oldsmobile in San Diego, California in July 1969. The current owner purchased it in the late 70s when the car had less than 40,000 miles on it. This car was built at the Fremont plant in Northern CA and has never been out of the state. VIN:344879Z132999.
The car presents as having never been left outside - certainly since 1979 when he acquired it. I have known the owner since 1983 and have knowledge of the car since then. The paint appears to be 100 per cent original. I have been painting collector cars for 50 years and can find no evidence of overspray/refinish. There are 7-8 small dings in the hood and top RF fender and one in the deck lid. All lend themselves to paintless repair. Only three are easily noticed - one each in the hood, RF fender and deck lid. The deck lid presents the beginning of lacquer crazing that is common to these GM lacquer finishes. It is completely presentable - not easily noticed - I would not repaint it in order to preserve the original character of the car.
The factory options are air conditioning, tape player, AM/FM radio. It is equipped with a factory tachometer.
The interior is very nice and shows only the minimal wear expected in a low-mileage car - nothing requires repair. The dash pad is perfect.
We do not have the build sheet, sales invoice or Protecto Plate. There is a plate imprint on the original Protecto Plate folder documenting the delivery dealer. The build sheet could still be in the car but I have no plan to take the car apart looking for it.
There is no angst in the immediate sale of this car - it will eventually go to someone who appreciates the personal value of a solid low-mileage original 442. It is located in Riverside California and inspection is invited.
