This car was part of the Art Astor Collection, auctioned June 27, 2008 in California by the RM Auction Firm.
The car was sold at a price of $33,000. The buyer shipped the car to Massachusetts and while in storage storm damage occurred. Sheet metal damage was limited to the hood, roof, trunk and fender. The hood, trunk and fender were replaced and repaired to the highest standards. No glass, frame or engine damage occurred. The car remains original with the recent addition of a new correct headliner. Equipped with a Hydra-Matic transmission, the car is mechanically sound throughout and runs and drives without issues. This car is one of the finest examples of the marque featured in several publications ( see cover of Nash calendar). The RM auction notes are as follows.
“The 1950 Nash Ambassador Custom Sedan presented here is handsomely finished in Black. The bright work was restored or replaced as needed. The cabin maintains its original upholstery. The seats are trimmed in two-tone grey and cream combination. The black carpet has been replaced and is in excellent condition. The dash, which is unrestored, displays a unique and attractive faux marble pattern. The interior amenities include a clock and radio. The restored engine and bay are clean, tidy and period correct condition. The undercarriage has been restored, detailed and undercoated with proper attention to detail throughout”.
