1967 Healey MK III 3000 BJ8, HBJ8L37530, with 59,999 miles.
I bought this car last year from a very good friend's collection but I'm overwhelmed with other projects. It shows very nicely and has only had 3 previous documented owners over the past 44 years.
Some recent maintenance: generator rebuild, tach rebuild, stainless exhaust, sway bar bushes, and new brake booster.
Motor runs strong w/ 150 lbs compression across all cylinders and very good starting and idling oil pressure. Could certainly use finer carb tuningbeyond my skill-set. Engine compartment largely untampered-with (original wiring looms). Starts easily, Idles in my garage w/ no overheating, no unusual smoke, and surprisingly, no engine/gearbox leaks. All controls, brake/throttle/clutch work as they should. All gauges, switches and lights work. Overdrive works.
Body/paint very nice, but not perfect. Paint has been on the car for at least 15 years. Chrome not bad but also not perfect. Interior excellent. Top is excellent. There is a new top boot (new in bag) that needs to have clips installed. Beautiful hand-made Mike Lempert steering wheel.Painted wire wheels very nice. Solid underbody from early protective coating (clean paint behind coating) I suspect at some point the driver sills will want to be done, as I don't think this car has ever been taken apart. Driver's window, mechanism and seals need some work.
For serious buyers, I invite you to come see the car and reconcile on your own, as it's virtually impossible to accurately/objectively represent cars of this age. I believe this car could be turned into a $65k restoration or driven as is for years with just a little more TLC. I feel I've priced this car low for easy, painless sale.
Car will be sold with transferable clear NJ title. I can help w/ shipping in that I can be here when your shipper arrives. Your winning bid is a commitment, not an option to buy. No warranty of any type.Paypal fine if we split the fee. Thanks much for looking and good luck.
