1973 Triump TR-6 Convertible Red with Tan Leather, LOW RESERVE !
1973 Triumph TR-6 TR6 Convertible Description
Up for auction is a 1973 Triumph TR6 Convertible with a manual transmission. Low Reserve! This British Classic features the inline six-cylinder engine and dual carburetors. Per the previous owner he owned the car for approximately 5 years. During that time he always stored it in his garage. Here is a partial list of all the repairs and maintenance performed over the past 5 years: Complete rebuild of Rear Differential ($1200 including parts- approx. 2 months ago)New Battery, Spark Plugs & Wires (1 month ago)Tires (90% tread remaining)Alternator& StarterRing Gear on FlywheelClutch& Throw-out Bearing Seals in transmission ShocksMechanically, the car always starts, but needs to be choked when cold. Sometimes the car idles well without the choke (once warm), and other times it seems to hesitate and sputter when the choke is disengaged (despite being warm). This also applies when driving down the road at normal speeds. Sometimes the choke needs to be on, and other times it runs fine without. We have been told the timing or carburetors may need adjusting. The clutch is very firm, but the car goes into all gears including reverse with no problems. The car pulls hard right when braking. The emergency brake does not hold the car on an incline. Sometimes at low speeds there is a loud squeal, unaware whether it is in the brakes or drivetrain. This car does not have overdrive on the transmission. All the gauges on the dash seem to work properly with the exception of the speedometer and odometer. The tachometer works. The choke, windshield wipers, and headlights work. The taillights and marker lights work. The key cylinder on the driver’s side door does not work properly (it just spins freely). The passenger’s side door and rear hatch lock cylinders work properly. The Sony stereo and upgraded speakers provide quality sound.Cosmetically, the paint is very reflective and glossy. There are no notable dents or eyesores. Upon close inspection the paint has some small touchups and flaws including cracking in some of the seams (from 10 feet out the car appears close to show quality – it gets many compliments). The chrome wheel coverings have some scratches around the edges. The interior is in good condition but does have wear as shown in pictures. The seats have some wear and so does the carpet. The top is in excellent condition. There is no boot to cover the top when in the down position. The car comes with the keys and manual as shown. Though the car always starts and runs dependably down the road, it is in need of repairs, as disclosed above, which would make it worthy for a road trip.
