While it didn’t come from outer space to be in a rock ‘n roll band, this purple people hauler will make your eyes pop! MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to offer this unique 1964 Chevrolet C-10 Custom Stepside Pickup. This is a complete custom and ground-up restoration and the truck was featured in Street Truck Magazine and made Goodguys Rods & Customs’ Top 10 Pickups for 2005!

This no-expenses-spared truck has a “Texas Speed”-built LS-3 418 CID Stroker V-8 engine with new headers and a bolted-on three-inch exhaust with header wrap buttoned to a four-speed automatic TCI 700R4 with a shift kit and 2400 stall converter with lockup. It also has a brand-new 4:11 10-bolt Positraction Camaro rear end with hardened axles.

Finished in a brilliant Hawaiian Orchard Purple Metallic, this stepside pickup shows extremely well, with only minor imperfections visible upon close inspection. It should be noted there is a pin hole on the front of the hood and some small cracking on the top of the hood plus minor blemishes on the driver’s door and the right rear wheel arch. The glass panes (with tinted glass side and rear) are in very good order, as are the lights. All the trim is present, complete and displays normal wear with a bright finish. The body panels are all straight and the front bumper is in shiny and very good condition. The black tonneau is extremely tight and finish is exquisite with a hidden tailgate latch. Aggressive stance, shaved doors and custom tail lights are excellent additions, as are the fresh oak cargo-bed floor, new stainless steel strips and modern sideview mirrors. The truck rides on staggered and polished U.S. MAGS five-spoke alloy wheels within low-profile Zeon RS3 tires in front, 273/35ZR20 and 31×18.00R20 Mickey Ts in back!

Inside, the two-tone gray cloth covers a bench seat that looks excellent. The matching door panels and dashboard continue the seat’s condition and that dashboard! It’s a Dakota Digital dash, with ergonomically-placed gauges, have a correct appearance and function as originally designed. Truck includes a working heater and air conditioning. Truck has a newer Pioneer AM/FM stereo with CD player, amps and kicker boxes. The brilliant, custom-equipped multi-spoke steering wheel is in excellent condition and is mounted on a modern-era GM steering column, complete with multi-function ancillary stalk and gearshift lever. In a surprise twist, the truck’s standard horn has been replaced an air horn that sounds like it came from locomotive – using it will make heads turn, even when parked!

For the 1960 model year, Chevrolet introduced a new body style of light pick-up truck that featured many firsts. Most important of these were a drop-center ladder frame, allowing the cab to sit lower and independent front suspension, giving an almost car-like ride in a truck. Also new for 1960 was a new designation system for GM trucks. A new scheme assigned a 10, 20, or 30 for 1/2, 3/4, and one-ton models. A coil-spring front suspension came in 1963, along with a new base engine, a 230 CID I6 and an optional 292 CID I6. The cab was changed for 1964, with elimination of the “wraparound” windshield and a new front grille design, along with various interior changes, keeping the original design on the body. In Chevrolet’s nomenclature, a “C” indicates two-wheel drive while a “K” indicates four-wheel drive. Starting in 1960, C/K trucks were available in smooth “Fleetside” or “Stepside” versions with fenders.

It’s impossible to mention the all-time classic pickup models and not include mid-60s Chevys…The builder of this particular “labor of love” thought the whole design through, from the deep purple metallic exterior to the “P” producing locomotive train horn. All come together to make this one of the most beautiful custom C-10 pickups we ever seen!… GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
