Up for auction with a very low reserve is a 1974 MG Midget. This is a 1275cc twin SU carburetor car, mated to a 4 speed manual transmission. The car runs and drives well, andreads 87,500 on the odometer. A rust free California car that would be the perfect project car, all it needs is a little TLC.

The paint is in mediocre condition, has blemishes and quite a few touch up spots, but at first glance is decent; see pictures for greater detail on the paint. There is a small dent just above the driver side sidelight. The doors open and close with ease, fit and gap are nice, the widows roll up and down easily.Windshield and windows are in good condition, with no cracks, and very clear. The rims and tires are in good, shape, and plenty of tread on the tires all around.

Starting from cold the car runs smooth, manual choke works well. Engine has a lot of power, good oil pressure, and sounds very healthy, the muffler has rotted, but is not loud, and makes a slight whistle at certain RPMs, but is usable. No smoke is emitted from the exhaust and this MG does not “run on” when the engine is shut off.Ithas a new battery freshly installed. This car is early enough that is not equipped with a catalytic converter, but does have the standard air pump. The oil was just changed with classic oil; and it does have spin oil filter housing. It shows no sign of overheating even as it sits at idle for long periods of time. On the road the car feels great, drives quite well. The steering feels great, and is nice and tight. Brakes feel good, the car stops well, pulls up straight, and new flex hoses have been recently installed. The parking brake works, and though it is a bit saggy, it does hold the car. The car appears to have no suspension noises, and has no bonks or creeks. The clutch feels great, plenty of life left in it. Unfortunately first gear is noisy and will jump out of gear if driven hard enough, other than that the transmission feels fine, and synchro second is working.

The fuel gauge and tachometer do not currently work, but the rest of the gauges do and they are original to the car. Windshield wipers work. The horn does not. The interior is complete, and looks decent, there is a rip in the drivers head rest, but it is still functional and isn’t too much of an eye sore, see photographs for more details. This MG comes with a tonneau cover, no top or frame.

I have tried to describe this car as accurately as possible; I usually tend to be overly critical in my descriptions so that when the car arrives the new owner is happy. If you have any more questions please feel free to ask. As always I would recommend driving and viewing the car if at all possible. Please call (310) 833 1525 for an appointment.
