This auction is for a 2007 Saturn Vue Redline finished in Black Onyx with the black and grey interior. I’ve had this Vue stored indoors for the last 5 years and brought it out of storage this past October. Since then it’s had over $2,800 worth of maintenance including a new timing belt and water pump, details of which are further down in the description. This Vue looks as clean as a four year old vehicle because it was taken off the road when it was 4 years old. The V6 Saturn Vue has a powertrain made by Honda that is also used in the Honda Odyssey, Pilot and Ridgeline. It consists of an all aluminum 3.5L SOHC 24 valve VTEC V6 engine that puts out 248 horsepower and has received numerous rave reviews by engineers and the automotive press for it’s high power output, excellent economy and inherent smoothness. It features an aluminum block and cylinder heads for light weight and excellent heat dissipation, VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) for maximum power output at all engine speeds, multiport fuel injection for excellent gas mileage, distributorless coil on plug (COP) ignition for reliability in all environmental conditions and drive by wire electronic throttle for precise control of drivability parameters. The result is that this Vue engine has all the legendary quality and reliability of a Honda but costs about $3,000 less than a similarly equipped Honda Pilot.

The engine is mated to an Aisin 5-speed automatic transmission that is also used in the Hondas and has All-Speed Traction Control. This transmission has a low first gear that provides brisk acceleration, while the high top gear allows for effortless highway cruising and excellent gas mileage. In fact, at 60 mph the engine is turning at only 1,600 rpm, and at 70, just 1,800 rpm. When driven with restraint, you can get over 30 mpg on the highway. That’s something most owners of other mid-sized SUV’s only dream about. And it runs great on just regular gas! The traction control system uses the components from the ABS system and the electronic throttle to regulate engine torque to enhance traction with wheel slip of one tire of the vehicle being counteracted by applying brakes to that wheel causing torque to be sent to the wheel with the most traction.

Rounding out the Vue powertrain is a unit body frame design that is lighter yet more rigid than the body-on-frame construction of many other SUVs. The chassis is made to smooth out your daily commute while still having fun on twisting roads. Start off with a McPherson strut independent front suspension with anti-sway bar, multi-link rear suspension with anti-sway bar and lightweight aluminum wheels. Add rack and pinion Electric Power Steering (EPS) for precise road feel, and large diameter brakes with anti-lock control, and you have an SUV that is quicker, faster and handles better than many others in it’s class.

The biggest distinction Saturn vehicles have over their competitors is it’s composite body panels. The doors, fenders, quarter panels, etc. are made of materials that will never rust and are flexible enough to ward off minor impacts that would result in ugly dents or dings on metal body vehicles. Take a close look at a 15 or 20 year old Saturn and chances are it will still look as clean as a late model car.

2007 was the last year of the box style Saturn Vue, which most owners find more attractive and distinctive than the next generation’s smooth curvy styling. While it might be presumptuous to call the Vue Redline a collector vehicle, it’s rarity, attractive styling and orphan status, may indicate a trend in that direction. The Redline edition was a low production version designed to turn an already pleasant mid-size SUV into one that drives and handles better than the others while having sports car styling that sets it apart from soccer mom vehicles. Its exterior style is very unique, combining sleek form with aerodynamic function. From its stylish lines and sharp angles, it incorporates numerous design elements to create a look that is like no other SUV on the road. The suspension has been lowered over an inch from the standard models and this gives it just the right attitude. From up front, it has a contoured bumper with integrated spoiler incorporating projector beam fog lights and air intake scoops along with a black mesh grill as well as clear lens headlights with jewel effect reflectors. Going back, there is a wide hood transitioning to a steeply raked windshield, and along the sides, large fender flares are overflowing with steamroller size tires on beautiful 7 spoke open design alloy wheels complementing the aerodynamic side skirts. Body color mirrors and door handles add a monochromatic look. On the roof, a low profile body color shark-fin XM radio antenna adds a euro touch, and the Vue’s lines meld into a large roof mounted spoiler and nearly vertical rear window. The rear bumper completes the ground effects look and frames the chrome exhaust tip. The Vue Redline looks aggressive from any angle without being flashy. But if you like the exterior design, you will really like the interior.

Open the door, step inside and sit down into a firm and supportive sport seat with suede inserts that will prevent your body from sliding around during spirited maneuvers. Move the 6-way power seat up or down or forward and backward with the side switch, then rotate the knob at the front for more or less lumbar support, and then adjust the tilt steering wheel for the perfect driving position. Next, look ahead at the instrument cluster with the large easy to read gauges with faces in an engine turned finish trimmed with chrome rings. Grab the thick leather wrapped steering wheel and see the cruise control and auxiliary radio switches are just a fingertip away. Notice the soft supple feel of the soft grain upholstery, take a deep breath and inhale the scent of aromatic leather and suede surrounding you. Like the inside of a classic English pub, the rich musky interior scent of the leather is more like a classic British Jaguar than a Saturn. At night, switch on the ambient lighting to fill the footwells with a soft glow. Now glance above you at the auto-dimming rearview mirror and large glass roof that lets the sun in on cold days when closed and the breeze in on warmer days when open, and drive with confidence knowing OnStar is available at touch of a button and the outside temperature and compass heading is always displayed. Lastly, gaze over at the dashboard and center stack at the titanium accents on the shift knob and shifter surround, or the chrome trim on the various dials. Not only is the styling attractive, but all the textures have a rich feel and look and all the switchgear have a precise soft touch action. From the stitching of the leather wrapped steering wheel, the graining pattern on the dash and door panels, or the layout of the knobs and switches on the dash, everything looks and feels like it came from a more expensive vehicle. The Vue Redline is a low production SUV that you don’t see every day. The vehicle is in excellent condition inside and out. It has a beautiful dent-free body with excellent paint and even after walking around it twice, I couldn’t find a significant nick or blemish. It has been cleaned with Meguiar’s Smooth Surface Clay System, polished with Meguiar’s Mirror Glaze cleaner polish and topped off with Meguiar’s Ultimate Synthetic Wax for a brilliant high gloss shine. The headlights were detailed with the 3M headlight polishing system for a crystal clear look. Even both the front and also the backsides of the wheels have been cleaned and waxed! How obsessed is that? Ditto for the chrome exhaust tip. All the glass, moldings, trim and emblems are excellent, I checked the car out top to bottom and found no evidence that is was ever wrecked. In fact, it still has the original VIN stickers on all body panels. Remember, it’s hard enough to find a two or three year old or 30,000 mile vehicle that hasn’t had at least a fender-bender requiring a bumper, hood or fender to be replaced, let alone a 10 year old one.

The interior is in great condition as well and included are a pair of rare embroidered factory floor mats. (Drivers side worn.) It has very nice upholstery, carpet, dashboard, door panels and headliner with no cracks, rips or tears or any significant signs of wear. The car doesn‘t appear to have been smoked in. In fact, it’s not even equipped with a lighter. The cargo area looks like it was hardly ever used and the engine compartment has been fully detailed and is clean enough to eat off of.

Mechanically it runs and drives great. After taking it out of storage, the battery was toast so I put in a genuine Honda battery from another car. Although it’s not a direct fit, it does work perfectly. The engine runs strong and it starts instantly whether hot or cold. The steering wheel is on dead center going down the road with no shakes or vibrations at speed, the brakes are firm with no pulling to one side when stopping and the suspension is tight. The A/C blows ice cold. It has a matching set of four identical Yokohama Advan S.4. tires. These M+S rated tires combine an ultra high performance tread design, exceptional all-season wet/dry traction, extended comfort, excellent handling and superior tread life with a 400 treadwear rating. They have been balanced with coated stick-on balance weights mounted on the inside of the wheel for a super clean look. These weights won’t corrode and turn ugly like cheap uncoated weights. The front tires have excellent tread and the rears are good. The spare tire doesn’t look like it has ever been used.

The car has been fully checked out and serviced with over $2,800 worth of new or recent parts, maintenance and repairs with original GM, AC Delco or other name brand parts so that only your enjoyment rather than your immediate attention will be required on delivery. Other than routine oil and filter changes, with all the above mentioned servicing the car has recently received, you should be good to go for another 100,000 miles before requiring major maintenance.

Overall this is a super sharp SUV that looks absolutely fantastic in this Black Onyx color. The cost new of this Vue Redline was over $26,000 in 2007 CLICK HERE to see the price new, but because it was a hot model, most dealers were adding additional market adjustment markups (read rip off), so with tax, title and tags, you were lucky if you got ANY change back from your $30,000 bill! If you are serious about buying a Saturn Vue in general, and a Redline model specifically, this is about as low as they go in this nice condition. Remember, you can get a great deal on Ebay with prices sometimes way below retail, but no bidder is going to “steal” a vehicle and no seller is going to give one away either. Also when comparing prices, remember the things that you won’t have to spend money on soon after getting it home. With this car you won’t have to spend $1,000 or more on paint or bodywork to fix scratched bumpers or a broken panel, you won’t have to spend $500 for a new set of tires, you won’t have to spend $400 on a complete front brake service, you won’t have to spend $400 on a complete rear brake service, you won’t have to spend $300 on a coolant and brake flush, you won’t have to spend $300 on a tune-up and filters service, and you won’t have to spend $300 on any upcoming scheduled maintenance. With many of the other listings on Ebay, Craigslist or on dealers lots, you’re lucky if they even check the oil before delivery. Also, when comparing this Vue to the others listed, keep in mind that this vehicle was never wrecked, has a clean Carfax, runs excellent, is fully serviced, hasn’t been smoked in and is clean inside and out.

If you are looking for an all original Redline in beautiful condition at a good price, then this one is hard to beat. Also remember that we don’t charge dealer processing fees or document fees that many other listings have for $200 or more and bury in their fine print. And don’t be fooled by some other auctions that are advertised as NO RESERVE and start at $100 or some other low price. Since no dealer is going to risk losing thousands of dollars if their auction doesn’t bring enough money, you can be pretty sure he has some “people” bidding on it for him. Especially those auctions that are private listings where it says “User ID kept private.” Also, because my reserve is close to the Buy It Now price, don’t think that you will get a much better deal if you just keep bidding it up instead of using B.I.N., especially if you need it delivered.
