1965 Other Makes Alpine Description

UPDATE: Welcome! To those who may have previously been following this listing, my sincere apologies! I decided to take the listing down until I could fire-up the car and drive it around a bit, to ensure it is ready for anyone expressing an interest to come and see/drive the car. The original battery needed replacing; it turns out the 'new' replacement battery that was installed was defective and needed replacing! I now have the 2nd new battery and plan on installing same soon. Unfortunately, a crazed work schedule (I am a one-man show), other obligations, and basically total crap weather here on Long Island for the past few weeks have not helped my logistics in terms of getting this done! However, it appears the worst is behind us, weather-wise, so I wanted to re-list sooner than later. I plan on getting battery connected and car up and running this weekend! Will provide update here, so please bookmark this listing, if interested. I will continue to re-list the car until it is sold. Happy to answer any/all questions, and again, sorry for dropping the ball here, but I really don't have the time to dedicate to this kind of thing. Again, will consider all offers over $ 5K (that's down $ 500.00 from original listing). I honestly don't think you'll find a better deal for this kind of vintage automobile. That said, the following still applies:

Hello! PLEASE NOTE: Car is located on Long Island, New York, North West Nassau County. ALSO: I would like to make an impassioned plea to ward-off any of the following: Please think twice about inquiring if any of the following scenarios MIGHT BE you:

A) Have never owned a classic car, have a casual interest, and are considering something ‘just for fun’.
B) Expect to buy a 50-year-old car and not invest a single dime in it.
C) Expect to buy a 50-year-old car for a ‘steal’, i.e., low-ball offer – don’t waste your time or mine.
D) Need to discuss with wife, husband, girlfriend, boyfriend – automatically disqualified!
E) Want to know if you can drive a 50-year old car from New York to California rather than have it shipped – you do the math – this is NOT a ground-up restoration, showroom immaculate car. Not my problem if you want to live dangerously.

Owning a vintage car is an exercise in patience, love, dedication and, to some extent, cash, so please take all of these things into consideration before considering this investment. Serious inquires only. I have no interest or time to listen to your plans, to review your grand scheme, get the back-story of what you’re going to do to get the car, your logistical manifestations, plots, scenarios, and so forth. If you need to provide that much justification, chances are you don’t really want to own a vintage automobile.

WHAT DOES THIS CAR NEED: Nothing, other than to be driven, which I no longer have the time or interest to do! It's been garaged through the winter and not on a trickle charge, so battery will need a boost - I will have it ready to rock for any interested parties.

WHAT CAN THIS CAR USE?: A) New Paint B) New rag top (frame fine, rag top tired) C) Possibly NEW windshield - there is a small ‘bullet hole-size’ crack in glass – this is NOT a problem in NYS under a certain size, HOWEVER, check with your local state requirements about this. Replacement windshield glass is available, but you’ll most likely need to replace assorted weather-stripping too, so the cost will be a few hundred dollars in parts alone. D) Reupholstered door panels – do-it-yourself, easy repair.

ABOUT THIS CAR: It has spent its life on Long Island, New York.I am the third owner of this car, a matching-numbers, stock Series IV Sunbeam Alpine by Rootes. I have owned this car since 1988. I have all service receipts, original owner’s manual & Sunbeam Alpine shop manual (a veritable encyclopedia of maintenance specs for this car)! New Flame Thrower Electronic ignition, recently tuned-up (before sitting in garage storage and driven rarely, through most of 2015), new tires, new battery, new clutch, new fuel sending unit sensor, after-market Victoria British hardtop, seats re-upholstered, new carpets over primed/painted and insulated interior floor pan, new seat belts (these were optional back in the day), stainless steel exhaust, new top-of-the-line car cover, etc. Original color was Moonstone white, the car was repainted by 2nd owner, no doubt. I even have the original - yes, the original - sales receipt for this car from 1965! Body is pretty clean - no crazy rust/dents - just some surface rust / cosmetic issues here and there - paint starting to flake on driver front fender for instance. Could use paint, new rag top (old top and frame within) and some rubber moldings here and there. I have put more $ into this car than I could ever hope to reclaim (just $5k alone, in summer, 2014), as it is not a Tiger, but nonetheless it is very cool and needs a good home with a garage and someone who will love it and drive it! Email with questions, etc, and I will do my best to provide as much info as possible. 65,391 original miles! Selling due to lack of time/energy/space/money to completely restore this classic as it should be. Heart-broken for sure, but I'm at the point in my life where I need to let go of stuff, and it's time to let go, however tough the process! Serious inquires only please. Please send me your email or file sharing link (i.e. Dropbox) for a few dozen more Hi-Res pix including undercarriage! Rootes produced just under 20,000 Series IV's, so we're talking pretty rare here! If you come to see the car, we can take a ride to my mechanic’s shop and get it on the lift for further inspection. No issues here – just full disclosure.

Last Compression Test done 1-29-14, engine stone cold, 33 degrees: CYL. 1 = 137 PSI; CYL. 2 = 152 PSI; CYL. 3 = 148 PSI; CYL. 4 = 150 PSI.

SHIPPING: I strongly recommend using any of several excellent classic car specialty transport services out there, or come with a flatbed trailer and take it away! Google 'classic car transporters' for estimates - car located in 11542 zip code! Shipping costs & logistics is the sole responsibility of the winning bidder!

Payment / Terms: A non-refundable deposit of $ 500.00 via Paypal will be due within (48) hours of close of auction. Payment in full of balance via Paypal will be required before taking delivery of vehicle. Car is being sold "as is", with no warranties, written or implied. All Sales are final.

That's it - please take a look at other Alpine listings for cars that are not even running and do the math - this is about as good a chance to buy a very good running, stock Alpine as you will ever see, here or anywhere. Thank-you! $ 7,900.00 obo over $ 5,000.00 These are my terms and conditions based on relentless past experience. I make no apologies, I waste no time. SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY PLEASE! Thank you very much for your time in reading this!
