Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite
1959 Austin Healey Sprite Description
1959 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite. I acquired this vehicle recently through a trade. I restore older Land Rovers and just love the cool factor of this vehicle. Unfortunately it is way to low to the ground for my taste. Here's what I know of the vehicle:Vehicle was kept in a climate controlled garage and driven very little locally registered as an antique vehicle.
Starts, runs and drives great. Brakes function as they should. All the switches work as they should but I think the dash lights need centrally grounded due to the wood dash that was added by a previous owner. Clutch works but could use some adjustment.Needs some TLC on the body. Minor rust in the seams on the bonnet and a few minor bubbles in the paint. It will need a paint job to bring it to a show quality.Floor pans are in good shape with no holes or major rust. Minor oil leak which I believe is the pan gasket.Bonnet alignment pins need fixed so bonnet lock down will work.Looks like new master cylinder, wheel cylinders, hoses and lines were installed recently.Seats are in great shape with no rips.Radio does not work and door speakers need removed. Door cards were not cut.If I can't find a buyer that appreciates the genuine value of this vehicle it will become my next restoration project. I figure there is someone out there that may want a good condition and rare Healey and wants to invest the time to restore it the way they want.
On May-14-16 at 06:20:59 PDT, seller added the following information:Update: Just got the Sprite back to my home. I have not put it up on the lift yet but took some additional photos and have posted above. Motor and Trans look all original. Looks like new clutch slave cylinder and exhaust from what I can see below. It looks like this may be a candidate for a fiberglass bonnet replacement since most of the surface rust is in the weld seems. Further inspection shows floor pans in great condition with only minor surface rust.
