This Terra is a family heirloom. My family bought it new back in 1978 (1979 year model manufactured in 1978) when I was just a kid, then reluctantly sold it in 1996.I found it and bought it back in 2008 (yes, true story). At that point, it was still completely original - it had been sitting under a tarp for several years - but the powertrain had quite a bit of wear and tear (the body and frame were still amazingly dent and rust-free).I had quite a bit of restoration work completed in 2013, and it has only been street-driven on weekends ever since.I have a lot of great memories associated with this truck - it is very difficult to let it go, but I just no longer have the time to care for it like I should.
It does have some non-stock upgrades (ex. a 4" lift kit), but I have been very careful to not have the frame, body, or axles sawed/welded/modified in any way.In other words, the truck can easily be reverted to completely stock configuration - every upgrade has been a bolt-in replacement.
I don't see too many Terras anymore. The Terra has a 118 inch wheelbase (18 inches longer than the Scout II), and a fiberglass Terra top (half top). The additional 18 inches are between the doors and rear wheels.
The powertrain on this truck (345 V8 engine, T19 wide ratio 4-speed manual transmission, Dana 20 transfer case, driveshafts, Dana 44 axles, hubs) is stock. The original 345 engine was recently replaced with a working 345 with good oil pressure. When I purchased the truck in 2008, the speedometer was broken and had to be replaced, so the mileage shown in any pictures or videos is not accurate.Honestly, the mileage on the truck is unknown (I entered 999,999 in the Mileage field for this listing because I had to enter a numeric value).
The Scout was professionally repainted the original IH Lexington Blue. The truck originally had the 1979 custom stripe (3-stripe) vinyl decals running along the sides.I do have a reproduction set of those decals that I will include with the truck, although I know there are people that prefer the larger Rallye style decals.I also have a pair of "Scout Terra" decals I will include, which would go in front of the rear marker lights. The underside was recently cleaned and repainted, and while some small rust spots in the floorboards and bed were replaced, no major work had to be done. The truck is very straight and solid. All body panels, doors, hood, and tailgate are factory sheet metal. It has a clear title in my name, has passed Texas state inspection and is registered in Texas.
Features/upgrades:The terra top includes the dome light hardware and toggle switch, the cargo light hardware and all the internal wiring, but it is not connected to power and has not been tested. The power cable that runs to the top is coiled up under the dash.
Here is a video that will hopefully give a better overall view of the truck. Note that the head unit shown during the driving sequence is not included with the truck. The Sanyo head unit described above is instead. I you are not able to view this, please send me a message.

This truck has had some major cleanup and repair work, but I would not call it a complete restoration (i.e., it is not a frame-off restoration, and every bolt has not been turned). The paint job is very good, but I don't know that I would call it show quality. The original factory wiring is still in place and appears to work fine. There are some slow lubrication fluid leaks on the truck, although I have never seen any actively driven Scout that did not have any.
