1957 Willys Pickup Truck L6-226 (Jeep) 4WD Description

This has been my in-town and hunting camp driver for the past 3 years. It currently has an OLD set of bias-ply Gateway Gumbo mudders that will require changing if you intend to drive faster than 5 mph (these were my hunting camp tires). The truck easily cruises at 45 mph in town or backroads with radial tires. Please don't expect to arrive here and drive this vehicle home. I guarantee it will drive onto the vehicle carrier. The engine smokes on startup, and is fairly smoke-free while driving. Notice that the truck lacks the usual steering stabilizer I've found on every Willys I've purchased. With radial tires the front end is very stable.

It is fairly original – 3 speed with xfer case, 6 cylinder Super Hurricane engine, 12 volt generator, oil bath air filter, bench seat with rear wooden bar for adjustment, canister oil filter.Everything works; turn signals, vacuum assist wipers, 4WD, parking brake, etc.It has the optional 5.38 diferentials.

The front bumper (from a station wagon with WILLYS inscription, see last picture), lockout hubs, gas tank and a few other items are not original to my limited knowledge of Willys’s.

There is minor rust-through in places on the body, and the previous owner did some welding to the back window and body. The floor pans are sound, but the previous owner did a metal overlay. I believe every window has a small crack or ding in it.My next project was to correctly replace the floor pans and get a floor mat.The floors have soundmat installed for noise reduction.

Parts installed from Walcks (partial list, I’ll supply all records to the purchaser):

Complete wiring harness

Clutch, pressure plate & throw-out bearing,

Brakes & lines,

Fuel/wiper pump,

Timing chain,

Almost all rubber seals and hoses,

Wiper motor,

Transmission and xfer case mounts.

I’m selling this truck because I recently purchased a 1961 Willys truck. Yes, I realize I need psychiatric help.

Clear antique tag registration/ownership in my name. This truck was not required to be titled in Mississippi due to its age.

I’ll be glad to work with any transporter.I live on a cul-de-sac, so I can drive it in town to a retrieval location. Once again, don't expect to drive this home, unless you live in Vicksburg.
