Here we have a very nice original metal 71 Plymouth Road Runner. The paint is 80% original with some touchups over the years on the lower areas. Very solid, super clean body panel fitment. 100% original interior. The original carpet is a little worn but it’s original. There is a half dollar size hole in the headliner. Awesome dash never even had a hole drilled in it. Even the vintage FM convertor uses a factory hole.
Late build June of 71. Has a 72 front bumper. I have no way of knowing if it’s original or not. It is known that Chrysler did start using 72 parts on 71 cars late in the build year. Original undercoating still covers most brackets and bolts so I believe it is original.
Car is showing just over 25,000 miles. Although I cannot prove this is the actual miles take a good at all the images below and a strong case can be made that it’s original.
The car was ordered overseas and picked up in the US. See the I on the tag.
The body has a lot of various scratches and dings around it as you would expect with its age. The right rear quarter is showing somebubbling near the front. Still has the original back out on the pinch well. No problems in the floors or trunk. Even the inner fenders don’t have the classic bubble in front of the hood hinges.
The GOOD:
383 4-Speed, 3.91 suregrip
Awesome color!
Unrestored original metal car. You know what you’re getting.
Unrestored 100% original interior.
All numbers match. Engine, trans, body numbers, tag, sheet all there and nice.
Radiator and heater core restored by Glen Ray. Just removed the original heater hoses when I had this done.
Engine rebuilt, Receipts
New clutch
11-3/4” Disc brakes up front, 11 x 2 ½” rear drums, all new. Original front drums come with the car.
Rebuilt front suspension with all USA made Moog components.
Tires and wheels are new. 275-60-15 rear, 245-60-15 front.
Nos fuel sender, no garbage repo here.
All gauges work except Ammeter, Bypassed for safety reasons.
Correct Jack and hook. Spare is a 15” to clear the front disc’s.
Original Westinghouse head lights. (the high beams are in a box but work)
No leaks!
Clear title in my name.
Original radio works great!
Turn the key and go!
The Bad
Some paint touch up.
Original exhaust, intake and carb are missing. This car was likely raced early on and it would explain the miles.
Viscous fan shown in one of the engine pics will be replaced with the ORIGNAL fixed fan.
Classic Carb stud too long hood ding and a light dent where they kept trying to close the hood when it was too long!
Driver’s seat has a couple split seams.
Speakers added to the rear package tray
Dash pad has a slight imperfection on top from likely an aftermarket tach. No holes or cracks!
There are lots of cars to choose from with fresh pretty paint. But do you really know what your getting? If you have any questions feel free to send a message, I will try to get back to you in a reasonable amount of time.
