1971 Plymouth Barracuda 'Cuda Description

'71 Plymouth 'Cuda Convert, Hemi Orange/White Leather, World of Wheels Champ!

This is one of only 87 High Performance 383 4bbl Automatic 'Cuda Convertibles produced in 1971. Yes, this is no pedestrian Barracuda. This is a true BS27N1B car. A late production unit, this is also one of the last '71 'Cuda's ever made. This one was factory equipped in "Dreamsicle" colors, Hemi Orange over white leather interior. Other desirable options include ice cold A/C, AM/FM "thumb dial" radio, Rallye Gauges, Tuff Wheel, Console, Power Windows, Power convertible top, and more. All of it documented by two fender tags and three broadcast sheets.

This is no warmed over driver that often clutter the classified section either. This 'Cuda was treated to one of the very best in concours quality over the top restorations by nationally award winning shop, The Finer Details. She began with a solid, all numbers matching body, original transmission, rear, and a date code correct (but not VIN stamped) 383 HP Magnum block. Following more than 4,000 hours in restoration and years gathering the best original components, the car was entered into concours competition at the 2015 World of Wheels where it won Best in Class, Best Paint, and Best Interior. The undercarriage looks as nice as the top!

She currently shows 100 miles on the restoration and 77,616 miles overall on the odometer. While she has been reborn as a trailered show pony, she is engineered for the open road. The date code correct HP Magnum motor was stroked and poked to 445 cubic inches by Dave Bruns Mid-America Racing Engines. The engine was likewise balanced, blueprinted, and machined to port-match intake and heads. Valve train benefited from the conversion to modern roller rockers. The rest of the drive-train and suspension received a similar treatment. While the factory rated this mill at 335hp, it now makes more than 450 horsepower, naturally aspirated on pump gas while still appearing factory stock on the outside.

So, if you always dreamed of owning a genuine 'Cuda convertible that pays off in both "Show" and "Go" (and don't wish to spend $3.5 million dollars, or even the $200,000+ and YEARS that it cost to restore this example), then you have found about the best specimen one can buy.
