1968 Plymouth GTX 440 V8
1968 Plymouth GTX Description
Exterior:
- This car has a great look and stance. The paint is what I would consider nice driver quality with some minor imperfections here and there. It has a few small paint chips on the right rear quarter panel but looks really good overall.
- The front and rear bumpers are new and in great shape.
- The wheel lip moldings and rocker panel trim are all new.
- It has a brand new set of 15x7" and 15x8" Magnum 500 wheels and nice BFGoodrich radial white letter tires.
- The glass is all in good shape and only has some light scuffs on the door glass from rolling up and down.
- The trim around the windshield, drip rails and rear windows are all in very good shape as well.
- It has a new pair of 440 hood inserts also.
- It is super solid underneath and has really nice original floor pans, frame rails, torsion bar cross members, etc. The trunk pan has been replaced and it looks like a decent job was done. There is a nice new trunk mat installed also.
Interior:
- All of the interior is in very good shape.
- The door panels are in good shape. The arm rest on the driver side has a small tear.
- The front and rear seat covers are really nice and don't have any tears.
- The headliner is in great shape and looks new.
- The carpet is in good shape as well.
- The steering wheel is in good shape overall but has a few small cracks.
- The dash pad has a few cracks.
- The center console is in really good shape also.
- It has a remote driver's side door mirror.
- All of the gauges work like they are supposed to.
- The A/C blows but does not blow cold and I have not done any diagnosing as to why it doesn't blow cold.
- The windshield wipers also work like they are supposed to.
- All of the head lights, tail lights, brake lights and turn signals work as well.
Drivetrain:
- The engine is a strong running 440 big block with an Edelbrock 4 barrel carburetor and factory cast iron exhaust manifolds running through dual exhaust out the back of the car. The casting number is 2536430-7 and has a 1967 date code. I recently installed a brand new air cleaner with the "440 Super Commando" pie pan.
- The transmission is a 727 that shifts nice and firm and doesn't slip when changing gears.
- It has an 8 3/4 rear end under it with unknown gear ratio.
Suspension:
- All of the original suspension is in good shape and the car runs and drives down the road great.
- The power steering feels really smooth and easy to steer.
- The power brakes work very well and stop the car easily.
