1966 Pontiac GTO Description

This is a no reserve auction. I have started the auction at what I believe to be a reasonable starting bid. $500 due within 24 hours of auction close. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. The car will need towed or trailered as it is not running. The engine turns but I have not attempted to start the engine.

This is an original California GTO with PHS (Pontiac Historical Society) documentation and a clean California Pink Slip title in hand. True 242 VIN code VIN 242176Z121457. The number on the front of the engine block is 0523794. I am not an expert on “number matching” so do your own research on that matter. This car needs to be completely restored. The Glass is all in very good condition. I have keys to doors, Ignition, trunk, center console and glove box. The windows all roll up and down well. I do have the driver door panel which comes with the car as well as a few other pieces that are pictured.

There are numerous places that show surface rust and a handful of places that have rust through holes. There are two rust through holes in the roof smaller than the size of a dime. There is some rust holes on the passenger side front and rear floorboards. The driver side rear quarter panel needs a large rusted area repaired / replaced. The passenger side rear quarter panel looks to be good. There is a rust hole at the base of the windshield on the passenger side about ½ inch x 2 inches. There is a small rust hole near the center of the base of the rear glass smaller than the size of a dime. The deck lid looks to be free of any rust holes. Just beneath the deck lid where the trunk weather strip goes has some mild rust holes. The driver side front hood has some prior damage that was poorly repaired. The bumpers and trim look to be in reasonable refinish able or driver quality condition.

I have over 100 photos on the YouTube slideshow link. Please inspect all photos. I have tried to highlight and take close-ups of all the problem areas with rust or damage. This car is a great candidate for restoration but does need a full restoration.
