1964 Pontiac GTO Description

You're looking at a real-deal 1964 Pontiac GTO. Yes, this numbers-matching hardtop was one of the first few that were snuck out the door to prove to Detroit that all of America loved the idea of a big V8 motor in a lighter, more compact package. You know this a genuine first-year GTO, so everyone at your car shows can thank your coupe for starting the muscle car craze. But more than just history, you'll love the level of care and investment that has gone into the granddaddy of all muscle cars. This GTO started out life as a Pinehurst Green coupe a fine 60s color but it doesn't quite live up to the car's fearsome reputation today. That's where the burgundy comes in. The professional respray leaves no trace of the original color, and in its place is a hue that offers the fun of bold red classic with a hint of a darker side. This glossy paint serves as a template to show you just how straight this body really is. But as sinister as this car might appear, there are still plenty of bright spots. The chrome looks amazing on the Wide-Track front end, hood vents, all the correct badging, rear bumper, and the rear trim strip that really gives the taillights a nice presence (and that's what most people saw of these anyway!) Plus, those spinner hubcaps are a great original touch everyone loves.Inside, the investment in a meaner appearance continues. The turquoise interior was meticulously replaced with the proper muscle car black. The result of all the money spent in here is a car that feels like it came this color from the factory, and feels exceptionally fresh because it's far newer. Sit in the low-back bucket driver's seat and grab the woodgrained sports steering wheel. From this view you start to see some very cool features. The machine turned dash console is a hallmark of the GTO, and it's the perfect home for the original components such as the clock and heat/defrost controls. Just below it is an upgraded AM/FM radio that retains the original knob-style look and feel. And of course you've noticed the cool vacuum gage and tach mounted on the center console. Since this V8 is so important, there have also been auxiliary gauges added, too.The 389 cubic-inch V8 in the engine bay is what started the revolution. This car features its original, numbers-matching motor and it's still properly dressed in the Pontiac light blue block and shiny valve covers. But that's not what really caught your attention. Instead, you and everyone else will be marveling at the optional triple-deuce carburetor setup that's currently on this coupe. With an engine bay that looks this well maintained, it should be no surprise that this GTO fires up eagerly, the dual exhaust gives a growl that really did make people think there was a tiger under the hood. The big V8 was all about moving this smallest of Pontiacs around with some serious authority. But those times you're not running in the stoplight grand prix, you'll be thankful for easy driving features like power steering and the three-speed automatic transmission. It's a first-year GTO with its correct motor and big investments into making it look great. Plus, it even has PHS (Pontiac Historic Services) documentation and the reproduction build sheet. This is turnkey ready to be a head turner wherever you go, so hurry up get this coupe before another Beach Boy gets their hands on it. Call today!!!
