2006 Pontiac GTO Base Coupe 2-Door 6.0L
2006 Pontiac GTO Description
2006 Pontiac GTO......The swan song to the GTO name. This is the penultimate year, some would argue, it was the year they got it right. This was at the end of the the three year return of the Goat. From 2004 to 2006 Pontiac brought the GTO back to the market, to compete in the newest muscle car wars. Rather than design something from scratch, they went to the Aussies and Holden. Rebadged the Monaro, brought it overseas and here you are! This has been a great car for me, unfortunately, I need the space more than the car. I am the original buyer from Gilroy Pontiac in California. When I bought this car, in mid 2007, there were only 2 manual shifted cars left in the state. I picked it up with 12 miles on the odometer and drove in back to SoCal that same day. To pay homage to the Holden lineage, a Monaro front end was shipped from Australia, painted to match and then installed. The stock 17" wheels, were also replaced for the 18" ADR's you see in the pics. Of course, both the stock bumper and wheels will be included with the car. The headlights were upgraded to HID's, quality units, not the low end import market kind, and the Holden aftermarket Oil Temp and Oil Pressure gauges were installed. There have been zero modifications to the motor and suspension. With the exception of the Holden appearance parts, this car is as it came off the assembly line. I've never taken it to the track, and its never been in a wreck. The interior is as nice as the outside. Only a small minor seam splitting in the rear seats, which is common on these, but the rest of the black leather interior is flawless.
If you're looking at this auction, then you know the 2006 came with the LS2 400 hp motor. How accurate are these factory numbers??? Well, a dyno sheet showing 349 hp at the wheels will be included with the stack of records that I have from new. I even have the original window sticker. This is also equipped with a manual shifted 6 speed which shifts like butter. I have zero issues with the car now, and never have had one since new. In fact, I just drove it from SoCal to northern Utah a few month ago, and it ran like a champ.....all while getting well over 24 mpg. All maintenance was performed by the local Pontiac Dealer until they closed, then the local GM/Chevy dealer has taken over. This car was essentially my Vegas commuter. Just using it to drive back and forth a few times a year, hence the low, low mileage. 39,xxx. The car is not currently being driven, but stored, under a cover, inside a garage in climate friendly Orange County California. This car will need nothing and will provide the buyer years and years of enjoyment. New battery was just installed, newer Hankook Ventus V12 tires (about 2k miles ago), and fluids changed recently as well.
The main gripe the press had about these late model GTO's were the looks. This has been taken care of with the Holden front end and badges. Everywhere I go, I get thumbs up and people asking what it is. Not to mention the performance, as this is essentially a 4 seater Corvette. I sold my 2004, just last month with over 140k on the odometer, and that car was as tight and strong as ever. If you're in the Orange County area, and want to take a look in person, let me know, I'll be happy to be available for inspections.
