1967 Pontiac GTO Description

A TRUE "24267" 1967 PONTIAC GTO CONVERTIBLE !!!! This is the first time this car has been for sale publicly since 1976! This is a true BARN FIND car. And just to add to the cool factor of this car (as if a 67 CONVERTIBLE GOAT needs a reason) this is THE car driven by MELANIE GRIFFIT, JEFF DANIELS AND RAY LIOTTA in the 1986 film " SOMETHING WILD "!!! If interested in this car for any reason, you must watch this movie. I do have anotarized statement from the builder who owned the car for the past 35 yearsand still owns the body shop that built andpainted both this GTO and one Tempest that was converted to look like a GTO as a double for the movie. Part of the movie was filmed in Tallahasse, Florida wherethe previous ownersbody shop was/is located and where the car was stored until lastmonth when it was removed from his dry storage and placed in mine.This GTO was used in all but two of the scenes in the movie. On to the car itself, this is a rare opportunity to purchase a TRUE 1967 GTO CONVERTIBL, COMPLET, UNRESTORE, AND OF EXTREMELY SOLI, DRY BODY. This particular car has been in storage since the movie was filmed in 1986. I have purposelymade no effort to clean or remove the 'barn dust'from the car at allso as to preserve its 'story'. The gas tank was drained AND the cylinders were fogged with oil before storage in 1986. The owner knew what he was doing before putting it in long term dry storage. The car was originally COLOR CODE "R" Regimental red with a black interior. Both the original front buckets and rear convertible bench seat are present and still surprisingly malleable and in tact although aged. ALL ORIGINAL GM FACTORY SHEET METAL!!! Take a minute to let that soak in. No patch panels. Ever. Anywhere. This car shows 47,000 original miles. This GTO has the original set of GM keys for the ignition, doors and trunk. Clock on dash, POWER CONVERTIBLE TOP WITH THE PARADE BOOT STILL ON IT ! Power brakes, power steering, HURST HIS AND HERS DUAL GATE SHIFTER !

On to the body, THIS CAR IS SUPER SOLID. Absolutely no frame rust. This car will be a breeze to restore the body to factory condition. Your restoration shop will thank you when this car arrives. The doors shut with that solid, factory "thud". No sagging, squeaking hinges. The hood gaps; straight. The trunk gaps; straight. The door gaps; straight. Absolutely zero rust holesor repairsin the doors, no rust or rust holes or repairsin the rockers (inside and out), no rust holesor repairs in the hood, no rust holesor patches in the fenders (outer and inner, even under the battery tray), no rust or repairs in the trunk lid, no rust or repairs in the cowl area OR "A" pillars and windshield frame. No rust in the door jamb areas. Drivers side rear quarter has had body work done by previous owner (AT HIS BODYSHOP THATS STILL IN BUSINESS) before the car was painted green for the movie. He stated, and looking at it I can confirm, it was dented in front of the wheel well and was pushed out and filler was used which can be seen under the paint. NO rust holes were bondo'd, no metal was cut out. Just dents filled. The trunk pan is 98% rust free with the exception of a hole the size or a coffee mug just rear of the drivers wheel well in the trunk pan. Also just below it in the lower wheel well drop off there is a hole the size of a silver dollar. The rest of the trunk pan is SOLID. Even under the convertible top in the package tray area and below it in the trunk is solid. The inner tail light panel is solid, no rust. The outer tail light panel has some bubbling around the lights BUT HERES THE KICKER!! With the car comes a NOS (new old stock) never installed FACTORY GM COMPLETE TAIL LIGHT PANEL (INNER AND OUTTER) FOR A 1967 GTO !!! This part is quite literally a unicorn. Passenger side quarter, solid front to back. Floor pans are 98% rock solid with 2 holes in the rear foot wells the size or a dime each, one on each side foot well. THE RUST REPAIR WORK THIS CAR NEEDS CAN HONESTLY BE COMPLETED CORRETLY IN LESS THAN 10 HOURS. You will not find a better start, much less with the clout this one has to go along with it. All stainless trim is included, some off and some on the car. All ingood shape. Even the rocker trim WITH the GTO emblems are straight and true showing only appropriate age. After the movie was completed the previous owner decided he would restore the car to the pre-movie condition and began to strip the panels of the movie green paintin lieu of the factory red. Much of the factory original red can still be seen on the cowl area and under the trim and rockers, as can the movie green in most areas. The fenders, hood, deck lid and one door were stripped, epoxied and primed after the movie as the car sat in storage. The radiator support and inner fender wells were stripped and shot gloss black. This was all in the late 80s and still they look great, just dusty. Other than the movie green, the car had never been repainted. All glass is included and in good condition with the exception of the front windshield which does have a crack. Nothing missing from the body or interior with the exception of the carpet and the round knob from the top of the hurst shift lever. Headlights in boxes as well as all the door knobs, tri, and parts not seen in pictures, right down to the stainless wiper arms. Convertible top frame looks to be solid and true.

On to the drivetrain, This car still has the COMPLETE factory drivetrain in tact and installed. This car has the correct "YS" code 6.5 litre 400 c.i. Pontiac v8. The "YS" HAD THE HIGHEST TORQUE OUTPUT RATING OF ALL THE 400's in 1967 according to PHS. The entire drivetrain looks to be correct and original to the car with the exception of the cylinder heads. The block codes matchfor 67 GTO, correct numbers matching 1967 GTO 4 bbl intake, turbo 400 trans and factory 10 bolt rear. The heads appear to have been replaced with later model "6X" heads at some point, and everything else appears original, down to the HD brass radiator and louvered air cleaner that came on it from the factory! Comes with two sets of the 1967"PMD" wheel covers also. Car does have a clear clean TITLE! The owner stated that it ran EXCELLENT before storage and with a hot battery and good gas would fire up. I can neither confirm nor deny this but all oil was clean/antifreeze was green and PS AND PB fluid was/is present. The more I discover, the more I'm amazed. Yes, its a project, but if you have read this far, you know what you are looking at and what the value is, vehicle alone! Then add the movie history....
