1981 Pontiac Trans Am Trans Am Description

This is a Pro Touring/Resto Mod Trans Am. This is a very fast, solid car and all upgrades and custom changes were done by professionals and all high quality parts were used. It has a lot of power and handles and drives extremely well.
Engine:
It is a Pontiac 455 bored 030 over to make a 462. pistons, rods and crank are forged. The cam is a 660 lift with a really nice thump to it. hydraulic lifters, it has Edelbrock performer aluminum heads with port work, guides, Harland Sharp roller rockers. The intake is Edelbrock performer II that is port matched to the heads. the carb is a Quick Fuel Technology 950 cfm tuned for E85 ethanol. All that has to be done to change it to 93 octane is to change the carb to a regular one. It has a 8 quart oil pan, MSD 6al ignition with 5300 rpm rev limiter. The engine was built by local legend Charlie Kababie with Warpath Performance. The engine runs perfect with no leaks or issues.
Transmission:
The trans is a built turbo 400 with a 10" high performance torque converter with a street friendly stall. It has a Gear Vendor installed making it a 6 speed trans. If you don't know what a Gear Vendor is, look it up. They are very fun to drive and sound great. It has a TCI shifter with the Gear Vendor 12v controls built into the shifter to change the gears. The Trans and Gear Vendor work 100% perfect with no leaks or issues.
Rear Differential:
The rearend is a shortened Dana 60 Mark Williams package unit with 411 gears, Richmond locker, 35 spline axles, 4 piston disk brakes, racing studs.
Exhaust:
The headers are large primary long tube Hooker Headers. The dual exhaust are 3" all the way going into an X pipe and then into Dynomax exhaust. The exhaust sounds really nice.
Suspension:
The rear suspension was completely redone with a mini tub to fit the wide meats. A 4-link was installed from Detroit Speed Engineering with adjustable coil over shocks. The front had adjustable coil over shocks and all the bushings were replaced. It has a large anti-sway bar for handling. The entire front and rear suspension can be raised and lowered and can also be made to ride soft or stiff.
Wheels and Tires:
The wheels are Billet Specialties. The front are 18x7 and the rears are 18x13 with a deep lip offset. The tires are BF Goodrich and the rears are 345/30/18. They still have 80% tread left.
Interior:
The interior was done with Fatmat sound deadener and heat reduction mat. Including the floor, firewall, rear truck and deck and the inside roof of the car. New carpet was installed, Bride racing seats, rear seats were redone, and new vinyl headliner. The dash is original without any cracks or fading. The dash bezel is custom made from 1/8 aluminum and Autometer gauges. the steering wheel is the original one and the center was painted to match the gauge bezel. The stereo system is a Pioneer head unit with Kicker speakers and a 8" Kicker subwoofer in the back tray. The electric window switches are billet aluminum and are mounted under the radio by the ashtray. ( it needs a blinker lever but i have not had the time to get one and put it in.)
Misc:
The electric window motors were replaced with new, It has 2, 3000 cfm electric fans with a custom aluminum shroud that keeps the engine cool and doesn't overheat even on a hot summer day in traffic. The radiator is a large 4 core aluminum radiator. It has cold A/C with an aftermarket Classic Auto Air compressor that only robs 4HP instead of the old style approx 15HP. It has Year One style one piece headlights with LED bulbs. The back lights are also LED.
Paint:
The paint is a 9.5 out of a 10, it has 3 coats of Starlight black with 4 coats of clear that was wet sanded and buffed. The graphics on the hood are a matte black for a subtle look.
