1980 Pontiac Firebird Formula Description

This car has been in my wife's family since new. It was purchased new in Mesa Arizona at Sun Pontiac. The car was hit while parked on a street in 1989 and was bought back from the insurance company to repair. Obviously, that never happened and it remained parked until 2014 when I "rescued" it from the carport.
It had not been started or driven in over 20 years, but after changing oil, fuel and putting in a battery, it started up! It had a clogged cat converter so I unbolted it to see if it would run well. It does and I have driven it around the block once or twice. That is not to say this is a driver, as it needs a complete restoration, but it demonstrates that it's all there and a reasonable starting point. The car is absolutely solid - floors, trunk floor, sub frame, etc - it is an Arizona desert car from day one.It is a 301 V8 automatic with factory air and factory Fisher T-tops. The body work on the rear was attempted and did more harm than good. Rather than pull the unibody on a frame rack, they did some old fashioned dent puller/ hammer work. The result is that it will need a new left quarter panel. It also needs a rear tail panel, but the trunk floor and inner fenders are straight. The replacement deck lid on the car is good, the filler panel at the rear window will need replacement. When I got the car, there was no reproduction tail panel available, so I bought a complete parts car with a superb body. In the interim, that panel is now available for less than $400.00. Consequentl, I don't need to cut it up and am selling the other car as a complete roller in another Ebay auction. I have a nice set of used tail lamps that I bought for this car - they are very hard to find and I paid $350.00 for the set.
Everything to restore this car is available from multiple sources and at reasonable expense. Hagerty Value on a 1980 Formula 301 range from $6000 for #4 condition to $18,000 plus for #1. Look at the auctions and online sales and you will see these cars bring $20k plus .
Please see the other auction - I will make a two car deal and reserve the right to end the auction early to do so, as well as sell the car locally.
If you bid on it, you need to want it and have a plan to get it. No deposit in 24 hours and it is relisted and the buyer reported. No new buyers unless we communicate first or your bid will be cancelled.
