1970 Pontiac GTO (242) Black on Black
1970 Pontiac GTO Description
1970 Pontiac GTO (Real 242) Black on Black
Up for sale is the one you've been waiting for, (1) 1970 Pontiac GTO that is both black inside and out. I live in Denver, CO and I'm selling this car for my older sister who lives in Urbandale, IA. I helped my sister purchase the vehicle a few years back so she's asked that I help her with selling the car. The reason my sister is selling the vehicle is because she's newly remarried, has three children, and working on her fourth. Her live style doesn't really lend itself to having this car anymore, it's been rarely driven over the last 2 years.
So, more about the car...
We bought this car out of Texas roughly 5 years back. This is a real GTO, 242, with a 400 cubic inch engine and turbo 400 automatic transmission. I'm sorry to say that it is not the original engine, it's actually a 1972 400 cubic inch motor which has rebuilt before my sister purchased it...roughly 1,000 miles ago if that. I'm not entirely sure what was all done to the engine, but I know it's got a hotter cam, heads, valves, and valve seats have been reworked, new pistons/rings. I estimate the car to have somewhere between 350-375HP. The only time I knew my sister to really punch the gas was at a red light shortly after she got it...the posi rearend smoked the tires all the way through the intersection and scared the hell out of her.
The transmission was also rebuilt before she got it and a shift kit was installed, couldn't tell you anymore than that...I have no idea the type of shift kit, but there is no lag between gears.
My sister had all new tires put on the car less than 200 miles ago, so the wheels and tires look like new. The car had to have been repainted just a few years ago, just before she purchased it I'm thinking because the black paint job looks great!!!
Now, the important part...Rust!
There is known to really speak of. The fenders, doors, quarter panels, wheel wells, frame rails, windows, etc. are all rust free and in good shape. The only rust on the car is a little bit of surface rust found in the trunk. The trunk pad was kept in the car and caused the top of the trunk pan to develop some surface rust. I've asked my sister to provide me with a picture of the trunk and she's working on it. Everything works on the car to my knowledge and in my opinion would be a great car to have and drive. This car is by no means a trailer queen, I would describe it as a good 10 footer and a car that gets TONS of attention going down the road. There are no leaks of any kinds, the only thing I would say is possibly wrong with the car is that it needs a new starter. The solenoid acts up and if gets hot it will fail to work until it cools down...that's it!
T's&C's
Please contact me with any questions regarding the car and I'll contact my sister if necessary. The car is located in Urbandale, IA and that is where it would need to be picked up. The car does not come with any kind of warranty. I'm setting in a reserve of $28,500 which is what we feel is a fair price for the car. The buyer is responsible for all shipping/handling, my sister or her husband can assist with coordinating any arrangements. I'm requiring a deposit of $1,000.00 to my PayPal account (a full $1,000.00 so please send payment as a money transfer and not a payment for goods because then I get short changed on the fees) within 48 hours of the auction ending. Best of luck to you and please ask any/all questions as I want you to be confident in your decision to purchased the car.
