If you have ever wanted one of these, or have had one of these and always regretted getting rid of it – this is probably going to be your last chance to get one in this condition, with this low of mileage.
This car started its life in Virginia as a lease. It was garage kept and dealer maintained most of its life. The first owner knew he had a collector’s piece in the making and took care of this car accordingly.
When you browse through the car fax and look at the all the dealer maintenance records, you will see that this car NEVER made it to 3000 miles between services. Most did not make 1000 miles between oil changes. I believe 238 miles was the lowest I saw. He kept the factory floor mats under a set of rubber winter mats. There is zero wear and tear to the factory carpet and almost none to the factory SSEi floor mats.
The seats have no tears, the dash nor door cards have any cracks or sun fading. The factory wheels are not pitted, have no curb rash, or any notable blemishes. They polish to a mirror shine.
The engine bay and underneath look as if the car was driven off the showroom floor yesterday. There is no rust, or dirt anywhere. There are a few minor paint blemishes (paint chips, etc.) but no know dings or dents.
At some point, this car was hit in the passenger door and claimed through insurance.Being that it was a leased vehicle, Virginia allowed it to be declared a total loss, I assume because the original owner did not want it since it had been in an accident.I have the clear title in hand, so to my knowledge it was never branded.
The car was purchased at auction, professionally repaired, and then sold to the gentleman that I bought it from.
If you are familiar with these cars, you know that they are notorious for the factory lower intake manifold gaskets failing and causing head-gasket-like symptoms. The previous owner had this happen to this car and continued to run the car while dumping block seal in it hoping that that would fix the problem.Eventually it got bad enough that it chipped a piston. That is why he sold it to me.
This low mileage Bonneville now has a completely rebuilt engine. A very reputable machine shop cleaned, pressure tested and milled the heads (engine had been run hot and caused minor warping). The block, crank, connecting rods and bearing caps were checked and all found to be in excellent shape – connecting rods and caps were not out of round and the block still had the factory cross hatchings (as should be expected with such a low mileage engine). The crank had no scarring and there was no need for it to be turned. In fact, the engine was in such good shape that it was rebuilt with a standard ring and bearing kit.All new seals, bearings, pistons, rings, wrist pins, and valve seals have been installed and the engine is currently still running break in oil. It was upgraded with copper coated head gaskets and a GM updated aluminum lower intake manifold gasket to prevent this problem from reoccurring. We added a set of Iridium spark plugs, new wires, new radiator, new thermostat, new hoses, and a new radiator cap while it was apart. The brakes have a slight pulsating in the front, so we have it scheduled to get a new set of pads and rotors this upcoming week. The tires were put on right before the engine went and they have 90% tread life or so.
The pictures do not do justice to this car.If you are interested in this, please come, look at it, sit in it, drive it, you will not regret it. I sell cars on here occasionally, and I prefer people come look at them in person so they can see what they are buying.I have had a lot of happy sight-unseen sales, and I strive for 100% satisfaction on each sale so these cars are described to the best of my knowledge. But the best description will never beat experiencing something in person…
