1979 Firebird Trans Am, Project, factory paint code 50 Solar Gold
1979 Pontiac Trans Am Description
1979 Pontiac Trans Am
Very, very solid and fully optioned 1979 Trans Am. This is a real T/A not a clone made from a Firebird with Trans Am Fenders and a hood swap. 1979 was the last year for 2nd gen that came with large engines from the factory.
403 engine (not running - intake is removed and will need carb), auto, air conditioning, tilt, tach, power windows, power door locks, rear window defogger, posi, and of course a Trans Am suspension which is a lot healthier than a stock Firebird or Camaro. Very complete, includes correct uncut 403 shaker (ignore the incorrect decal for Pontiac W72) and shaker air cleaner. Shaker Air Cleaner may be missing lid but I may have one.
Was a factory Gold Trans Am, paint code 50, same as the 1978 Y88's.
Drum Brake Rear End, should be original posi but I have not inspected this.
Odometer reads approximately 91K. Doubtful this has flipped over. To my knowledge it is a numbers matching Trans Am. Car has been sitting for 10 years.
Engine has had rain water leaked into it. It currently is not running. Please see photo with intake manifold removed.
Steering box has been removed and is stored in interior. Can be loaded on trailer but need to push on tires to steer it.
Missing A/C compressor and brackets. This is a project car that needs repairing so I do not know what all of the parts or repairs it will need.
T/A has a passenger seat bolted down on driver's side so it is missing a driver's seat. None of the seats are original to the car.
All glass is very good.
For those of you who live in states that use road salt in the winter, this T/A has not experienced the compound of road salt winter after to winter corroding the vehicle.
Floor pans are solid; trunk pan is solid. The front fenders and doors are solid. Passenger quarter panel has common rust for these cars, and there is rust on driver quarter panel. Hood is bent on passenger side but can be repaired. I did see some bondo in driver's door jamb, someone repaired a small amount of rust or something. Rockers are solid. If you want a complete vehicle inspection it is up to you to send your representative for the inspection. I have not inspected every inch and detail of the car. This is a project car sold as-is and where-is.
I do a lot of these cars and this one is super solid. The plan was to part-out and cut-up for OEM sheet metal but this one is just too nice.
This one is in great shape to either make a driver out of, make pro-touring, or to restore. Message me via eBay if you have any questions that are not addressed in the positing. Message me with your phone if you want to discuss.
$2699, my loss over parting out/cutting up goes into your pocket. This is my rock bottom price.
