1982 Trans Am- complete external Knight Rider KARR replica
1982 Pontiac Firebird Description
Up for listing is my 1982 Pontiac Trans Am that has been converted to an external replica of the Knight Rider car K.A.R.R. This is the same exact model for both KITT and KARR on the Tv show. Many are selling replicas from a later Trans Am model, but they will never be authentic!
I originally purchased this car in 2013 right here on Ebay for $6,000 and began work on it. It was originally black/gold. I have kept records of most receipts for work/parts. I have decided to put it up for sale since the cost to finish the interior conversion is beyond what I can reasonably afford over the next few years.
There are many cosmetic and mechanical differences between the 82 model and even the other early 3rd gens (83,84)
The most major additions/upgrades and conversion parts for this vehicle are below:
1. original turbocast wheels and bowling ball hupcaps with all clips in tact
2. Recently reupholstered PMD seats in Encore Velour-sandstone
3. Recently completely recarpeted- light doeskin
4. Custom Door panels from Hawks
5. Converted from Manual to power windows and locks less than 1 year ago
6. added cruise control less than 1 year ago
7. brand new tint including t-tops and rear window/hatch
8. All new weatherstripping and seals- doors, windows, t-tops, rear-hatch
9. Rebuilt 305 GM crate engine (190 HP tested) less than 5K miles ago
10. Transmission switch to completely rebuilt 700R4 (from original 200Th) less than 2K miles ago
11. 4 New tires- less than 2K miles
12. New windshield washer motor
13. New Speedometer Cable
14. Completely new A/C system- all replaced less than 2K miles ago
15. Brake system recently flushed
16. Brand new Custom paint job (3 months ago) 3 stage- in the exact same color as the Screen Karr (GM pure black and 25th anniversary corvette silver)
17. Custom Rear Taillight Blackout -KR part- made by Billy Gunter (I have an extra as well)
18. Custom "Season 1" Front Nose- Made by Billy Gunter
19. Yellow slim LED Scanner- manufactured by Sid Rendon (AKA Sid Knight)
20. New Radio and Speakers- not stock
21. Brand New Battery (two months old
22. I have lots of additional parts- original stock bumper in very good shape, extra center console, the KR gullwing steering wheel that I haven't installed yet ($450), and a bunch of additional odds and ends that you will need.
23. Foglights (4 total) installed as shown on photos but not wired (I was going to have this done when I had the Knight Rider Dash installed)
24. New Side Molding (replaced during paint job)
25. Completely reupholstered original Front and Rear PMD seats in Sandstone Velour (same material used for the sail covers and for the headliner and also present on the door panels)
Assuming you are buying this car to complete the conversion, there is no further restoration needed for the interior, all cracked/broken original parts were replaced- The cracks on the dash cover will be irrelevant when a Knight Rider Dash is put on. There is no heat in the vehicle, but otherwise is runs great. The HP for the vehicle as is, is 190 solid with the current engine set up which includes headers and an edelbrook carb.
