1974 Pontiac Catalina Base Hardtop 2-Door Description

This rare find is currently owned by the daughter of the original owner, has been continuously garaged for the last 30 years and has rolled only 13,070 original miles during its 43-year life and was never driven on a gravel road. It was literally their funeral and wedding car.

The famous Pontiac 355 cubic inch engine with a 2-barrel carburetor coupled to a Turbo Hydramatic transmission provide the propulsion. The car came with air-conditioning, AM radio with 8 track player and the original 8 track new car familiarization (owner’s manual on tape).

This is being placed up for auction on eBay and is wearing the last license tag from 1984. The original factory clear plastic seat covers are still on as an indication of how meticulous the original owner was with his maintenance. He was also a mechanic who maintained a well-respected shop most of his life.

Rust-free and flawless except for the plastic apron between the rear bumper and the body. We have included pictures of the brittle plastic. Both bumpers are unmarred and straight as the day they came out of the factory. The garage door faced south and had windows which allowed sunlight to hit that plastic apron for over 30 years. The UV finally broke it down. The front apron is perfect.

As mentioned, this car was garaged over 30 years ago and has not been touched since other than to squirt Marvel Mystery oil in the spark plug holes and turn the engine manually to move the lubricant. Everything under the hood looks good but we have not attempted to start it up at this point. If it does not sell during the current auction we will spend a little money to make it purr like a kitten and relist it at considerably higher reserve.
