Lumpy the LeMans is a 1972 Pro Street Pontiac GTO Clone. Tubbed and heavily modified. ODO says 90,000 which is not the original cluster, and actual amounts on the restored frame/body and swapped engine are unknown and certainly less, both under 10,000 miles. Car retains the original clutch petal but has been changed to a TH-400 (3spd) auto with a shift kit. Engine is a 1966 GTO 389 bored to approx 405 CI. Car has not had a dyno or been raced recently. It generates a modest amount of power (my guess around 400 HP). Car is no slouch but the build is currently not centered around a high trap speed. For those looking to increase power in the future the drivetrain is ready to handle up to 700 HP without issue. For me, it has not been about racing but about clubs, cruising, and shows. A future move has me putting the car up for sale, I would happily sell the car to a friend, it runs wonderfully. The frame is straight and the car can be floored in a straight line without ever having to touch the wheel.
Some of the details of the engine include Comp parts – rockers, hydraulic flat tappet cams, cam lift and duration is fairly aggressive with a healthy lope (hence the name Lumpy for the idle). 670 heads, Holley 750 vacuum secondary carb with manual choke, Torker II intake manifold. Engine runs very nicely and is happiest a WOT.

Transmission is TH-400, 3 Spd, rollerized with numerous upgrades to the clutch packs. 3000 K stall converter for enthusiastic launches but still drives well down the freeway. It shifts perfectly and is prepped to take on more power in the future. The drive shaft is from a retired race car. Rear end is 3:90, GM 12 bold, C-clips are eliminated. Disc brakes in front, Drum in rear, with an additional vacuum pump as the car makes very little vacuum at idle. Lowered suspension in front, possibly from a Cadillac, Rear is 4-link with drag coil-overs. Car rides soft, with the expected sounds of a 4-link. Rear struts were recently replaced.

The car has a brake line lock, an auxiliary electric fan in the event of idling in traffic on a hot day but the car has no overheating issues and starts when hot without complaint. New exhaust with H-pipe, electric cutouts and two resonators and two mufflers. The exhaust note is lovely with cutouts closed and with them open sounds amazing. I would describe the paint, although an awesome color as a "10 footer" or better, with several cracks and dings in the front end, it is a driven car but the body needs no work. It had new weather stripping, all windows and panels are in great shape with no rust! No A/C, battery was relocated to trunk, all gauges and articles work inside. The interior is near perfect, and retains much of the original look of the GTO.
4-Link back half w/wishbone; 389 with mildly ported 670 Heads, forged internals, hydraulic cam; Mickey 29x18.00 tires on 15x14 Torque Thrusts; Custom TH400 rollerized with numerous upgrades; Challenger Drag Pack seats, full dash, 8 point cage....
