1978 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 Description

1978 Pontiac Trans Am, original unrestored very original with 90% original paint. 1st year for the very rare Solar Gold, as well as 1st year for the WS6, with original pontiac W72 400, carburetor numbers matching, factory 4 speed car however the transmission is not numbers matching. This was a factory air car and the compressor has been removed, blower and heat work fine, delay wipers, lamp group with map lights. This is an unusual combination as in 78 the WS6 was not forced on the W72 4 speed cars and was relatively unknown in its first year, more rare is having a California production vehicle with original Solar Gold paint as the California plant used a water based type paint due to emissions production standards which did not hold up...in fact Pontiac ceased Solar Gold production at that plant before the 1978 year completed, yet this vehicle was late enough in production to have the black paint on the tail lamps at later year production change for 1978. The vehicle has been recently serviced with carburetor tune /rebuild to factory specs and runs extremely well and drives tight and correct as a WS6 should, nearly all components are original, however, Koni shocks on rear from the 80's. Factory radio not present. The car was undercoated and has held up well, floors all solid. Passenger front fender and half of front bumper cover repainted, looks like possibly a slight front end tap may have occured some time ago. New Ames factory reproduction seat belts installed one year ago due to bad tensioners on the original belts. New factory repo lug nuts a few months ago, still have originals as well. If your looking for a correct, real W72 WS6 4 speed, thats original with patina to prove it, you'll be hard pressed to find another like this one. Not present in these photos are factory reproduction floor mats, and new factory reproduction lugs nuts. The original lug nuts come with the car. I have PHS records and the original build sheet that the prior owner found in the car, in addition to the matching PHS build sheet. I have specifically placed the worst areas of the vehicle in the photos, the underneath of the car and frame are totally solid, these exterior cosmetics picture are the worst aspect. I can text you video of the vehicle running if you contact me. This car was gone over thoroughly as well as apprised, the reserved is considerably less than the appraisal value. If you have questions you may phone 610-905-9527. Payment in full and cleared prior to release of vehicle via cash or cashiers check. Buyer responsible for all shipping arrangements and costs. I reserve the right to end the auction to do local listing. Thank you.

Please look closely at how well the car aligns, body panels and gap. Look how well the interior has held up. It was a well car for car that was also used vs. sitting. The car can be used as the survivor it is or if you want you can do the easiest part of any restoration, have some of the body done and painted or blend the lower half down. Your choice. It's nearly unheard of to have a Solar gold California produced vehicle in original paint which is why I decide to keep it unrestored and since I prefer originality to restoration on most vehicles. If you prefer a restored look, this is a simple trip to the body shop and the value of repair investment will easily be recouped and then some given the rarity of options and fact no other major items needed as its mechanically solid and well running. I started yesterday to take the photos, first time it was started in months and started right away, choke working fine etc...put about 10 miles on it and all well.
