1971PontiacGTO 400 4-Spd
What we have here is a two owner 1971 Pontiac GTO 400 4-Spd! The car is fully documented with the ORIGINAL Window Sticker, Build Sheet, Owner's Manual,Body Shop Inspection CardETC. The car retainsitsborn with drive-train and is all Numbers Matching. The car was special ordered with 26optionsand cost $5,078.79! One rare item is a power 4-way bench seat! All the rare parts are still present, even the90-degree plastic nipple that comes from the hood tach to the heater box!
Richard Reidling purchased the car brand new from Jim Herrin Pontiac in Findlay, Ohio on 5/17/1971. The original owner's manual showsallthe maintenance he did to the vehicle all the way up to 108,000 miles. He Owned the car until 2009 when he sold the car to Richard Heater. Richard decided to restore the car, and started to take the car apart. He performed a complete body-on restoration going through the entire suspension, drive-train, interior, body and paint! Richard decided he didn't like the original parchment top and interior, so he switched them to black, which looks good with the original Castillian Bronze exterior. I have a folder that is about 3" thick full of receipts from the restoration. There was more than $15,000 in real receipts in the folder. The car runs and drives brilliantly with no bugs or issues.
Mechanically, the drive-train performs flawlessly. The rare and hard to find7041263828 CFM single venturicarb is presenta top the WK 400. Only Brad Penn oil has been used on this car since being re-built. Both thewide ratioM-20transmission and10 boltrear were gone through and perform wonderfully. The 3.55Safe-T-Trackis a perfect mate to this drive train. The entire braking system has been replaced from the front disc's to the rear drum's including the master cylinder. Radiator was completely re-built amongst all the other receipts included with the sale of the car.
The interior was completely gone through and looks great, I would rate it an 8 out of 10. All the chrome was re-done with the exterior pieces. The dash pad is near perfect and the glove box door fits great. All gauges work well, including the hood tach and added oil pressure, temperature and Amp gauges.
The paint is PPG Omni, base clear. When painting, there was an adhesion problem with some of the primer. The hood and both fenders were affected, see pictures.TheVinyl top was replaced as well and looks like new. The rear bumper and grilles were both re-chromed and the stainless trim looks great.
I just installed a set of original 14 x 7" Rally II rims like ordered, along with new center caps, lug nuts and 235 60 R14 RWL tires. She drives and handles as expected.
This is a 46 year old muscle car and is sold "As is Where is" with no warranty either expressed or implied.
