2X87 Code.
Trans Am Indy Pace Car Edition.
5700 Production numbers for 1980.
This car started out as a Indy Pace car.
Pace Car correct interior in good shape. Most hard panels have been replaced. Carpet is new. Seats, door panels, dash and some of the harder to find trim piecesare original.
Factory fisher t-tops are in good shape and are original to the car. Not replacements.
Driveline:
Engine.
1975 455ci Pontiac motor. Please see photos. I have included a original build sheet for the motor. The only thing that has changed from the build sheet is the carburetor. The Carb has been replace with a Fitech, GoEFI 600hp EFI system (fitechefidot com). The EFI gives you drivability like a modern day car. Extremely nice to just go out after the car has been sitting for a few weeks…turn the key and it fires right up. Smooth idle even though it has a huge cam..and throttle response that’s incredible. Truly a blast to drive.
Transmission has also been upgraded to a 700R4 trans. The 700R4 is a overdrive trans, making long trips a breeze. The transmission is a stage 3 build with a 2800 stall convertor. Built to withstand 600hp.
Rear axleis stock Trans Am rear end which is a posi-rear end. It will need to be rebuilt at some point. It was never built to handle the HP of the big block but has held up over the years.
Body: Car was ground up rebuilt in 2010. Older restore starting to show some signs of wear…but by no means a beater.
Paint is a FX pearl white similar to the Cadillac Escalade.
Has a couple spots that need attention. Please see photos.
I have both hoods for the car. The original Turbo hood that came on the Indy Pace car and the Shaker hood. (See photos).
Shaker hood was painted same color at the same time the car was painted so it matches the car. Change the hood whenever you want. Wheels are original Pace car turbo wheels. They have been Powder coated black with aluminum colored face. All the chrome trim (except the t-tops trim) has been painted black. Front and rear windows where replaced with new after paint. Side windows are original.
Suspension is all Hotchkis front and back. Also has frame stiffeners installed. to keep the body from twisting and cracking a window from the big block torque.
Car overall is a 8/10 in my opinion. Needs some minor fixing to make a local car show car.
Hagerty has these cars at 22,600 for a #3 condition car.
Open to Trades for 68-87 Chevy Pick ups. My be open to other trades as well...just ask.
