ABOUT THIS 2004 Pontiac GTO: Vehltor® Village™, Inc. has physically consigned this exceptional limited production Pontiac collectible from its owners. Vehltor® Village, Inc. markets consigned vehicles, finds new owners and completes all details for the seller and the buyer.

The OWNER HISTORY: The Carfax shows 4 owners, but it has only been 2 owners. In our research we found the original owner initially leased it (1 owner), then theoriginal owner bought it personally out of the lease put it in his personal name(2ndowner). The present owner purchased this GTO in 2009 -- he bought itand first put it in his personal name (3rd owner), then in 2015 retitled it in his car collection company name (4 owner). So the original owner redid the title twice and the present owner redid the title twice. It came with the original window factory MSRP sticker (which you will see below and is included). The 2nd owner we are assisting bought it for his use, then after his first 5 years,as it was still like new he added it to his car collection - only reasonfor selling nowis due toa present shortage of spaceto putanother car just purchased into his collection. He is motivated to sell.

Present owner was attracted to this GTO, he's always been a big GTO fan - that's why he bought it. (He just now bought a '66 GTO, there's where the space issue comes in.) He not only bought this 2004 for his sentimental reasons, BUT also for its drive-ability and handling. He absolutely loves the way this '04 drives over the old GTOs. He also intentionally bought the LS1 motor as it gets better gas mileage than the LS2 (and if you wanted with a few tweaksyou could get the performance of the LS2 ifyou wanted to). But he preferred the LS1. Considering the awesome 350HP this has, this GTO gets up to 29 miles per gallon highway and respectable gas mileage around the city (19 miles per gallon).

This GTO runs out really fast and is powerful - she sailsthrough the air and has always been kept in dry storage inside his personal warehousewith the rest ofhis automobile collection. Again the only reason for selling it is just a lack of space. The owner says "it is a beautifully driving car, still can smell the leather inside. Not a perfect car, but a nice car for the providence." This GTO has special providence, it's been babied and highly maintained over the almost ten years he has owned it. Everything works as it should. Included is a front bra and some seat covers (see in the trunk of car).

Tune up, plugs, coils and the shifter has been updated to a short shifter. Any factory recalls that came about were attended to. The suspension has also been updated - the coils that were added are heavy duty and makes this car more solid for handle-ability without adding unwanted stiffness. Added a new updated sway bar, links and body bushings, all suspension has been updated. Drives fantastic.

Additionally the brakes have been updated with 2005 bigger brakes added (with drilled rotors). He just replaced the slave cylinder -- the slave cylinderis quite a common issue with LS Tremec transmission combinations (it was beginning to seep some fluid so it too has been done recently in the last couple months). Included with this purchase are the original factory coils (he put the original coilsin thereplacement suspension coil boxes) The original factory shifter as well is included.

It hasn't been driven much over the last year; rest assured this GTO has had great care. The present owner shared he was not aware this GTO needs anything done mechanically. All vehicles we consign are subjected to an outside independent inspection company as we want that outside tech review and oversight to get the current status.

In their through inspection they found the owner was correct, this GTO is in top condition -- however they did note a couple items that should be attended to (see the comment section at the bottom of this ad where you will find comments on all areas of this GTO). The items were brought to the owners attention, and it isour belief from our past experience that most people are like him: When people buy a new vehicle they like to do things so they know it's been done to their satisfaction, and as he is selling it, it was decided the next owner can address the couple items needed. Price is right!

The muscle is certainly here: Under the hood of this 2004 GTO lies the same 5.7-liter LS1 V-8 that powers some Chevrolet Corvettes; in the GTO, it delivers a studly 350 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 365 pound-feet of torque at 4000. Coupled to the optional ($695) Tremec six-speed manual transmission which this GTO has (an electronically controlled four-speed automatic was standard), the Vette V-8 in this kicks the GTO with inspiring swiftness. Test results were from 0 to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds and tripped the quarter-mile lights in 13.62 seconds at 104.78 mph-numbers that would leave a 1960s-vintage GTO seeing yellow. Wow !!

The historians toiling in Motor Trend's windowless basement tell us that "GTO" stands for "Gran Turismo Omologato," which apparently is Italian for "goat." Or something like that. Anyway, you may recall that it was two score years ago that Pontiac, with a pre-DeLorean John DeLorean calling the shots, plopped a hulking Bonneville V-8 engine into a compact Tempest body to create the original GTO (well, okay, the name actually first appeared on a vehicle from a faraway carmaker that rhymes with "Pherrari," but let's not let that get in the way of a good story).

"One look at the CD player in this GTO and you know the brand-new 2004 Pontiac GTO isn't General Motors business as usual. There, in the center of the dash, where you'd expect to find a member of the Delco family settled into its customary reserved seat, your eyes fall on the word "Blaupunkt." It's as startling as finding a Lowenbrau in your McDonald's Happy Meal. And it's only the first of the GTO's many surprises.

... four large analog gauges (wearing faces color-coordinated with the exterior paint) lie in a large pod behind the wheel; the dials and much of the interior are trimmed with a classy satin-nickel finish (as are the drilled pedals). The four-spoke steering wheel (with integrated audio controls) feels good in your hands and is infinitely adjustable for tilt and telescope - something we've been nagging GM to do for years. The center stack houses straightforward climate controls and that Blaupunkt audio system - a 200-watt, 10-speaker affair with in-dash six-disc CD changer. There's not a blob of bling-bling marring the cool, businesslike ambiance.

Fit and finish are the finest we've seen on a GM vehicle in decades. The body emits not a squeak and shimmies not a whit, parts gaps are tight and uniform (even on our preproduction pilot vehicle), the interior shapes flow smoothly into one another, and the materials are rich and handsome. Superb, beautifully stitched leather covers the wheel, the shift boot, and the seats. The seats themselves are simply spectacular, deeply bolstered for excellent support, and roomy enough to be accommodating for drivers of various sizes.

Behind the front chairs are two more buckets ...

- Surprise #5: Although it'll happily melt its rear BFGoodriches into rubber pudding (a standard traction-control system will step in to save your tires unless you switch it off), the GTO runs not like a shuddering, rackety muscle car, but like a sophisticated executive's express ...

Speaking of performance ... there's no penalty for the GTO's performance: The mighty Corvette engine is deliciously smooth and flexible (and makes exhilarating noises as it sweeps to its 6200-rpm redline), and the six-speed shifter moves as if cradled in a vat of precision goo. For sheer drive train refinement, the GTO easily matches Europe's best sporting coupes. And in a straight line, it'll smoke a similar rear-drive, V-8 two-door like the $52,000 Mercedes CLK500.

- Surprise #6: The GTO apparently has Cool Whip in its suspension. Forget that punishing big-numbers ride we've come to expect from American performance coupes - the GTO is too well-mannered to deliver constant, seat-pounding reminders of its sport-coupe intentions. Maximum handling grip - 0.80 g's - the GTO's real-world usability does. Several of our test drivers commented that they had driven few other coupes so poised, so well-balanced, so confidence-inspiring when you're in full-hustle mode ... it shines where it counts: in the driver's seat.

... we're not disappointed. What GM has delivered instead is a superbly crafted, tastefully styled, tautly muscled grand-touring car that stimulates your brain, not your kidneys. That such a suave machine wears the Pontiac badge may be the biggest - and the most pleasant - surprise of all."

The Pontiac GTO is an automobile that was built by Pontiac in generations from 1964 to 1974 model years, and by GM's subsidiary Holden in Australia from 2004 to 2006.

The first generation GTO was a muscle car of the 1960s and 1970s era. Although there were earlier muscle cars, the Pontiac GTO is considered by some to have started the trend with all four domestic automakers offering a variety of competing models.

For the 1964 and 1965 model years, the GTO was an optional package on the intermediate-sized Pontiac Tempest (VIN 237...). The GTO became its own model from 1966 to 1971 (VIN 242...). It became an option package again for the 1972 and 1973 intermediate Le Mans. For 1974, the GTO option package was offered on the compact-sized Ventura.

The GTO was selected Motor Trend Car of the Year in 1968.

The GTO model was revived from 2004 to 2006 model years as a captive import for Pontiac, a left-hand drive version of the Holden Monaro, itself a coupé variant of the Holden Commodore.

In 2004, the Pontiac GTO was relaunched in the U.S. market in the form of a rebadged, third-generation Holden Monaro.The GTO was assembled by GM's Holden subsidiary at Elizabeth. It was equipped with the 5.7 liter LS1 V8 engine for the 2004 model year, the same engine found in the concurrent model year Chevrolet Corvette, with a choice of a 6-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic.

The revival was prompted by former GM North America Chairman Bob Lutz, who had the idea of importing a Holden Commodore-based vehicle after reading a Car and Driver review of the Holden Commodore SS, published circa 2000. Car and Driver praised the performance of the V8 powered, rear-wheel drive Holden Commodore SS, but noted that even though it was one of the best vehicles that GM offered at the time, it could not be purchased in the United States.

In 2004 General Motors claimed performance of 5.3 seconds to 60 and a 13.8 second quarter mile time, which was closely verified by several magazine tests.

The GTO was assembled by GM's Holden subsidiary at Elizabeth. It was equipped with the 5.7 liter LS1 V8 engine for the 2004 model year, the same engine found in the concurrent model year Chevrolet Corvette, with a choice of a 6-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic.

Changes from the Australian-built Monaro included bracing additions to the body to meet U.S. crash standards, a "corporate Pontiac" front facia, new badging, "GTO" stitching on the front seats, and a revised exhaust system. GM Engineers benchmarked the sound of the 1964 GTO held in the Pontiac historical collection, as well as other LS1-powered vehicles, while working with the exhaust vendor to tune the system. Initially in 2004, the car was offered in several colors: Barbados Blue Metallic, Cosmos Purple Metallic, Quicksilver Metallic, Phantom Black Metallic, Impulse Blue Metallic, Torrid Red, and Yellow Jacket.

The last Pontiac GTO, which was also the very last Monaro-based coupe produced, came off the assembly line in Australia on June 14, 2006. Total production for all three years was 40,808 vehicles. This generation GTO was only intended as a limited production run for those 3 years from the beginning of the program.

"The GTO's Schwarzenegger-engine-in-a- Hugh-Grant-body formula was an instant hit and, for the rest of the 1960s, an ever-more socially irresponsible breed of so-called muscle cars painted America's streets with the ribbonlike remnants of their tortured rear tires. When word leaked out that Pontiac-now under the stewardship of another octane-loving visionary, GM Chairman Bob Lutz-would be unveiling an all-new GTO, some 30 years after the retirement of the original, the regulars around the MT water cooler immediately weighed in with predictions. "It'll be about as subtle as a Jerry Bruckheimer movie," said one. "Probably pretty rough around the edges," opined another. "Bet it breathes fire," offered a third.

That was before a gleaming 2004 GTO showed up at our Los Angeles HQ -and proved that our crystal ball had been unplugged all along.

Surprise #2: The new GTO looks nothing like a jukebox on wheels. True, the Yellow Jacket paint scheme on our test car was bright enough to give George Hamilton a sunburn, but the bodywork is as clean and sleek as a modern Euro coupe's ... we applaud Pontiac's decision to skip the bolt-on body cladding and the shaving-mirror chrome wheels - indeed, the body is entirely free of "I'm a muscle car" costume. Even the small rear wing looks appropriate, lending just the right sporty finish to the tail. In fact, the GTO is so tastefully subdued, it'll surely disappoint those expecting the Vin Diesel treatment. Yet the muscle is there for those who appreciate subtlety. Check out the ride height, for instance. When have you seen a factory General Motors product so rakishly low to the ground-or sporting such narrow tire-to-body gaps? Part of the explanation, of course, is that the GTO is no ordinary Pontiac.

The car is based on the Monaro, a popular and athletic rear-drive coupe built by GM subsidiary Holden in Australia. And, in fact, all GTOs will be assembled Down Under.

Fit and finish are the finest we've seen on a GM vehicle in decades. The body emits not a squeak and shimmies not a whit, parts gaps are tight and uniform (even on our preproduction pilot vehicle), the interior shapes flow smoothly into one another, and the materials are rich and handsome. Superb, beautifully stitched leather covers the wheel, the shift boot, and the seats. The seats themselves are simply spectacular, deeply bolstered for excellent support, and roomy enough to be accommodating for drivers of various sizes. Behind the front chairs are two more buckets-it takes some acrobatics to get to them (we'd like to see a power-seat advance when the front backrests are flopped forward), but once back there, adults can sit without holding their knees to their chins. (Trunk room, the GTO offers nine cubic feet of space under its despoiler rear deck).

Surprise #5: Although it'll happily melt its rear BF Goodriches into rubber pudding (a standard traction-control system will step in to save your tires unless you switch it off), the GTO runs not like a shuddering, rackety muscle car, but like a sophisticated executive's express."
