1967 Porsche 912 Description

Hello,

Up for sale is my 1967 Porsche 912. In 1967, Porsche built only 3,239 912s. I have had this very clean car for approx 5.5 years. It has the 5 gauge cluster. I have the owner history of the previous two owners, i.e. names. The car is from the west coast. It has the original color interior/exterior. As seen in the pics this is a very clean car. All the chrome and glass are in excellent shape. The chrome on the back engine grille is in excellent shape and comes with three steel racing badges. Nothing has been cut inside the car, the paint is newer, as of last year. The interioris stunning. Original Blaupunkt Radio and speaker. The radio looks perfect . The knobs and buttons function beautifully and gets many main radio stations. All seats look good, and slide and function, I do not see any rips, the carpet looks great and all four rubber floor mats are in great shape. Dome-lightsanddash-lightswork.Headlight (high and low beam) functionproperly including the switch. The turn signals work. The disc brakes work impressively well. The wheels have been balanced recently and the Fuchs looks amazing on this car and has all of the wheel caps. The carpet was taken up when the shifter couplings were looked at and the floor looked great with no rust. Theundercarriagelook amazing and is not undercoatto see the true and amazing condition of the car, in other words, it is easier to see the condition under the car without an undercoat. I have taken a detailed pic of the spot on this car where I could finda visible rust problem which is under the car where just before where the spare tire sit, you can only see this from the bottom and there is surface rust on the underside of the hood. Spare tire/wheel look to be original. Comes with original jack. Fuelgauge, temp gauge, RPM gauge, speedo gauge work. The speedogaugedances like normal oldspeedometer gauges and Clock does not work (I think all it needs is a cleaning inside). All doors are tight with no sag and work well. All the windows function well and as they should. The door locks function perfectly. Most rubber around the windows and doors and truck seals have been replaced and are in good shape and soft. Last year the dash pad was replaced professionally with the correct color and speaker holes and material to the original. I just put in a new speedo cable and shifter bushings are newer. Soon after I bought the car I installed a new starter and startersolenoid, and this year a new fuel pump. Also, the exhaust recently gotrepainted. The car shifts nice thru all 4 gears of its manual transmission. And if you are curious about a 5 speed trans., they have nearly the same gear ratio on the high gear, so highway driving speed is about the same between both transmissions. Tires are 205 60 R14. This car has a header type exhaust system which means more power and NO HEAT. A system can be added later if you so desire. Windshield wipers work and have newer wiper blades. Vent knobs, and side air vents work.

The previous owner wanted a professional rebuild for the motor from a reputable builder. This Porsche is outfitted with a completely rebuilt Porsche 2.0 type 4 motor, now it has about 10k miles on the motor. I have reciepts forthe rebuild. Porsche chose this motor for use in the 914 and Porsche 912E. Since this motor was fitted in this car with the 912E it was a fairly simple conversion. You instantly gain efficiency and ease of maintenance. Parts are readily available and inexpensive. With this motor you are enjoying tremendous torque, while keeping it very reliable and fast. There was no cutting to accommodate this motor. It can easily be removed and a 912 motor can be put back in if so desired. The original motor does not come with this car. You could by another 912 with 90k + miles and have to spend many thousands to get the motor built later on. The type 4 conversion is fairly common with lots of info on the internet. Some stats on this motor include: 96mm big bore, polished crank, cam web #86 270 degree 423 lift compression ratio 7.9 to 1. Duel Weber Carbs IDF 40's. The engine usually starts up quickly and if the car sits for more than a week a little smoke appears, which is normal for these engines. This is not a race engine, this is an engine that is well rebuilt with a little ummpp added to it. If you are curious, and after some research and questioning, a matching 912 engine ranges from $3,000 (used) to $9000 (everything new). It is also common for 912 owners to take out and keep the original engine in storage to save the engine while using a 2.0 Type IV engine that is in the car now since it is more fun to drive, and about 20% more power than theoriginal including more reliable, durable and inexpensive to repair when needed, accordingly. I have currently talking to a couple of people about a matching numbers 912 engine. If or when the original matching numbers engine gets installed the car will be worth the $40,000-$45,000 range, from my research. Just check Hagerty classic car values. So, I feel what I am asking for is reasonable and I have been told so byenthusiasts. I am also willing to entertain offers.

The body on this car is looks great. The car is really straight however, it some dings on pass door, I tried to take pictures of it, it’s hard when the car is black. This car is always kept in the garage and taken out on nice days.Itis a blast to drive and turns many heads. I have taken this car on a few 2 hour trips this year alone and I take it out at least weekly in the summer with no problems. The car rides and drives and stops great in the city or on the highway. The performance motor sounds great. I wanted to keep this car but am now ready to sellsome toys. I will miss this car as I loveto drive it onnice days and cruise thecountryside. I have bought and sold other cars in my the history of Ebay and have kept feedback at 100%, even before the change. I have been a member of Ebay member since April of 2000 and have 222 feedback. This is because I don't sell junk, take care of my things, and do not try to make them out to be anything other that what they are.

As far as problems, the original radio working perfectly but the original speaker does not work. The rear license plate lights are new but not hooked up, I know they work. Rust hole near front tow hook under spare tire. The Ivory colorHeadliner functions perfectly with no saging and does have moisture stains. I do not see any rips or tares.

I have a lot into this car but am realistic and havefollowed 912's for years on ebay and the market keeps going up every year for these cars. I amsure this car will make someone very happy. This car is mostly complete. This is not a nickle and dime type of care. It is a gorgeouspracticallyrust free. If you want something to get in and drive with no problems for many yearsthis is car for you. A 912 with the power of the early 911's. If you want to restore it to original you are working with a beautiful example that you won't need to put tons of money in because of the shape its in. The condition, I think it is better than 90% of the 912s I see out there. Palos Hills, is about 35 miles outside Chicago and about 25 minutesto the nearest airport. I do not mind holding car for a couple of weeks once it is paid in full, please not longer. Oh, and comes with two keys and a leather Porsche key ring, as shown in picture of dash. I have the title in hand (I own the car, there are no loans against the car). So if you are the winning bidder and paid in full, when you pick up the car, you will get a title and copy of the bill of sale and you can drive the car home.

The pictures make the car look perfect, however there are some flaws. I have tried to tell and show the condition of the car to the best of my abilities, If I miss something, tell me. If you would like to know more about the car, I have many more pictures I can send you. You can call, text or email to learn more information and you can see the car in person. This car is nearly 50 years old and is being sold “As is” and “Where is” with no warrantees expressed, stated or implied along with buyer has been given the opportunity to see the car in person and the opportunity to have it look over by or taken to a mechanic. From my experience buying a vehicle on the internet, it is best to see the vehicle in person, no amount of looking at pictures or talking to the owner will show the car in its closest detail and real life form. So, please do all your homework and research before you bid. And US bidders only please.

Also, I am selling this locally and have the right to end the auction early.

Payment info--------------------------

I require a $1,000 non refundable deposit through PayPal within 24 hours of the end of the auction. For the balance, you have 7 days to pay in full, after 7 days then I will either sell to the next highest bidder or start the auction over again, both I do not want to do. For payment, you have a choice of either a wire transfer or a cashier’s check (A week will be taken to make sure the cashier’s check is valid). However, the car can only be picked up after the full payment has cleared, makes sense. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer and I will help the best I can to ensure a smooth transfer.

Thank you and happy bidding,

Corey
