1985 Porsche 928 Description

This is a 1985 Porsche 928S. I bought this from the original owner. He bought it in 1985 in Texas and moved it to Memphis, TN in 1986 when he opened his copy machine business and warehouse. It has basically been sitting since then in his warehouse. He said he drove it about once a month to keep it up. It was last registered in 2003, but he said he hadn't driven it since 1996. In 1996 he had new brake pads and calipers put on. He had new tires put on and had to have the fuel tank cleaned out as well as the fuel lines and injectors. After that work was done it wasn't driven or started. The fuel tank was left empty.

I bought it and had it towed straight to EuroWorks in Mississippi. There Marty the "Porsche Guru" changed the timing belt, water pump, and all belts, he also changed all fluids. The fuel tank was flushed and a new fuel pump put in even though the tank was empty. New plugs and wires were also put on. The tires were changed because of dry rot even though they had zero miles on them. The rear weather stripping wasdry rotted so that was changed as well. The under hood matting is dry rotted and I have a new mat that comes with the car but it hasn't been installed.

This car runs, drives, and looks great. It is hard to believe the car is 31 years old!!! The car is original. The dash is not cracked like ALL 928's do. The leather looks like it might be a 2 or 3 year old car. The windows go up and down fast as does the sunroof opens and closes fast. The headlights go up and down like they are suppose to. Everything on the car works like it is suppose to except what I will outline below. This car has very low miles because it has sat in a warehouse in Memphis for about 30 years. If you want the name and number of the original owner let me know. He is about 72 years old.

With the car I have the car cover, Porsche cocktail table book, copy of original title, some papers, and if I can find them the original Porsche Carrera sunglasses in their original case with replacement lenses that the original buyer got when he bought the car.

I am moving out of state so I had to get rid of all my toys. This Porsche and my new Mustang are the last things to go. I thought I would stay living where I have forever and never had a thought of getting rid of this car. I have a lot, lot more money in this car than I will ever get out of it so my loss is going to be someone's gain.

What the car needs:

1) It needs the R12 charged on the A/C. It has not been converted to the "new" refrigerant. The compressor and its clutch is good. 2) The fuel level sending unit in the tank is not working, it needs replaced. 3) The stereo does not power up. It either needs a fuse or fixed. It is only a cassette but I wanted it all original. It has the rare EQ option on the car, it is on the stalk in the picture. To the best of my knowledge that is it, everything else works. That includes the locks, mirrors, cruise control. I have all the keys, even the red valet key. I even have the key ring from the selling dealer in Texas.

Someone is going to get a wonderful car. If you have any questions please let me know.

Thanks and happy bidding

Bill
