1982 911 SC Coupe
I would like to apologize up front for the mediocre pictures I have provided that were taken with my cell phone. They do my car no justice at all.It is unfortunate that internet displayed pictures tend to make an average car look great, and a spectacular example such as mine, look almost average. So, serious buyers please read my ad in its entirety to try to gain a more accurate description as to the condition and appearance of this very special Porsche. Also, please bear with me while I attempt to come up with an opening sentence that somewhat captures the essence of my beautiful, virtually flawless 1982 911 SC.
Let’s see….The winning bidder of my 7-day eBay Auction will be the new, proud owner of one of the finest, original, super low mileage 911 SC’s in the entire country….ORYou would be hard pressed to find a more pristine, well cared for 34-year old Porsche anywhere…..OR My 1982 911 SC quite simply must be one of the finest examples available on the market today….ORThis museum quality Porsche….This once in a lifetime opportunity….Well, you get the idea! This is a really nice Porsche!Make no mistake – we all know that nothing is absolutely perfect, and my 911 is probably no exception. One can always make minor improvements to make something incredible even better. Having said this, I would venture to say that the overall condition of my car is probably as nice as you will ever see, especially considering its age. It has been stored every day and night in a heated garage for the past 32 years by one meticulous, caring, OCD owner. It has zero rust. Its condition is truly over the top, both inside and out. It currently has approximately 74,000 miles but in many ways it looks, runs and drives like it has 7,400 miles!
OVERALL CONDITION
Because nothing is absolutely perfect….
The interior is a 9.5!Even the driver seat has zero wear and that includes the infamous side bolster and piping. In addition, the carpet, door panels, headliner, the entire dash, as well as the gauges, knobs and all other surfaces are all like new with no fading or wear. It’s amazing! You may never see a nicer interior in a 34-year old Porsche.
The exterior is a 9.5! The 956 Zinc/Pewter metallic exterior of my 911 is flat out gorgeous! Every body panel is absolutely laser straight (there is one small/barely noticeable door ding on the passenger door) and all door and hood gaps are perfectly consistent. If one looks really hard (up close), the only flaws are a couple of very minor chips on the door’s edge and a few microchips on the front spoiler. Also, if the left rear Fuchs wheel is positioned a certain way, upon close scrutiny you will see some very light curb rash in a small area on the wheel’s outer edge. The blackout trim around all the windows is like new as are all the rubber door and trunk seals throughout. In addition, even the felt liner that seals the outside of the factory electric sunroof still looks new and has no discoloration. The overall exterior condition of this vintage 911 is simply astounding! Please note: My 911 has NOT been recently detailed for a temporary “show look” with shiny tires and “renewed” faded rubber trim/bumper pieces. It looks superb “AS IS.”
The mechanicals are a 9.5! It runs, drives, shifts and brakes like new! Zero smoke and no known oil leaks! To the best of my knowledge, my 911 SC needs absolutely nothing mechanically as of this point in time. It literally feels like it is a brand new car!Everything works properly including the lights, blinkers, windows, electric sunroof, and the A/C. Even the clock keeps perfect time!Turn the key and drive it cross country tomorrow. That’s the type of car it is….It is an absolute delight to drive. In addition, please note that this Porsche still sits at its original factory ride height – it has never been “lowered.”No silly whale’s tail, chin spoiler or gravel guards.Just simple, lightweight, quick and nimble….The way the Porsche factory intended it to be.
HISTORY: My 1982 911 SC (US model) was originally purchased new by a doctor through a Porsche dealership near Boston, MA.By taking advantage of the Euro/tourist delivery program he was able to personally take possession of his car directly at the Porsche factory in Germany and enjoy it throughout Europe on his vacation. He drove it off the grounds of the Porsche factory on May 5, 1982 as documented in the service booklet (which has dealer stamps through 45,000 miles including a dealer stamp dated October 8, 1982 – five months after he bought it – when he had the dreaded 85MPH speedometer replaced with the regular 150MPH speedometer). This change was also reflected by a factory dealership applied sticker that was placed in the driver’s door jamb with the date and miles (1,806 miles – please see picture). Along with the service book, I also have the owner’s manual and tourist booklets which include a tourist vehicle’s insert and a full sized booklet listing all the Euro Service Centers. The doctor pampered his new Porsche and always kept it garaged. He only drove it in nice weather before selling it to the 2nd owner on June 19, 1984 with 16,976 miles on it. Once again, all of this information is fully documented.
The 2nd owner cherished this car for over 30 years until his untimely passing from a brain aneurysm in October of 2014. This 67-year old gentleman owned several oil heating companies and a trucking company here in Massachusetts. He started out as an oil company delivery truck driver after graduating from college in the 60’s and eventually ended up buying the company in the 70’s amassing a small fortune along the way. When he passed away he left his son his show winning 1967 Mercury Cougar convertible which he purchased when it was brand new, and the family decided to sell his highly coveted Porsche. I was the lucky recipient of this gorgeous car. The owner was well known in the business community, especially here on the Cape, for his always immaculate, chromed-out fleet of delivery trucks. His company even had a specially designated detailing area inside one of his large warehouses where his employees washed, cleaned and polished the chrome on a regular basis to maintain his “neat fleet.”Hence, the company’s reputation on the east coast for their pristine line of trucks. As a matter of fact, after his passing in 2014, organizers held a memorial truck show in his honor here on the Cape. Over 500 show trucks – big and small – from all over New England showed up to honor him. When I heard the stories about this gentleman, I knew I was getting a very special Porsche indeed – truly one of a kind!
Having lived in California for over 60 years, I have literally seen hundreds and hundreds of Porsches on the road and at car shows. However, I do not recall having ever seen one in this incredibly rare color combination of Zinc/Pewter metallic with dark blue interior. It is absolutely beautiful and certainly a refreshing change from all the red, black, and white ones you tend to see so frequently. Along with the sale of my 911 SC the new owner will, of course, receive a clean/clear Massachusetts title in my name with the registration being good through September 2017, factory owner’s manual, service booklet with dealer stamps, Euro/tourist delivery program booklet, factory toolkit, air compressor in factory plastic bag, touch-up paint in plastic bag, Porsche first aid kit in factory plastic bag, $325 sunroof tool, jack, space saver spare tire, and an ownership/mileage/condition verification letter signed by the owner’s 42-year old son who grew up around the car since the age of 10 when his father purchased it from the original doctor owner. I am also including the Certificate of Authenticity from the Porsche factory.
I am a car enthusiast and I have owned other Porsches over the past 40 years. However, I am not a mechanic, restoration expert, and certainly not a Porsche “guru.”So with this in mind, and for full disclosure purposes, this phenomenal 1982 911 SC would seem to represent one of two things.Either it is an absolutely stunning, 34-year old, low mileage, vintage Porsche that is, according to the signed verification letter “in 100% original factory condition inside and out including the paint,” or it is an absolutely stunning, 34-year old, low mileage, vintage Porsche that at some point underwent a complete, high-end, show quality restoration unbeknownst to the long time owner’s family.Either way, the new owner of this car will be able to enjoy one of the finest, low mileage Porsche’s available on the open market today. Its overall condition is a true rarity! Personally, I purchased this Porsche for its incredibly pristine condition, low mileage, rare color combination and provenance. Of course, only you know what criteria are most important in your purchase process. Having said all of this, I believe you would be very hard pressed to find another 911 SC that approaches this one’s undeniably beautiful condition anytime, anywhere, at any price. It is truly incredible!
This 911 SC has been lightly driven and meticulously cared for its entire life. It is my personal hope that the new owner of this lovely car will not only treat it the same way, but will actually drive it and enjoy it on a regular basis.
REASON FOR SELLING:As I previously mentioned, I have lived in California for the past 60 years (Bay Area near San Francisco). However, my wife and I recently moved to our vacation home here on Cape Cod for the next year in preparation of our daughter’s September wedding at Wychmere Beach Club. As we have proceeded with the wedding plans, we have come to realize that this event is going to cost significantly more than we had initially anticipated. So, in the end, we (actually my wife) are more comfortable having some reserve money in the bank than having this beautiful car sit in the garage gathering dust. It is truly my loss and your gain. I have purposely set the reserve at a below market price to ensure a quick sale. While I certainly do not have to sell my Porsche, I am definitely serious about “refreshing” my bank account and have priced it as such. This Porsche is not for sale anywhere else other than eBay.
Lastly, this fabulous Porsche 911 SC is being sold in “as is condition” with no warranty, or guarantees, written or expressed by me, the seller. I have attempted to describe this one of a kind Porsche as honestly and accurately as possible. Everything I have stated is to the best of my knowledge. It is quite simply one of the most beautiful, original, rust-free, 911 SCs I have ever seen or had the pleasure to own and drive. PLEASE – if you have ANY doubts as to the condition or originality of my Porsche then please make an appointment with me to see it in person during the auction’s 7-day time frame. Our vacation home is located in the town of Dennis which is located on Cape Cod, MA.The Logan International airport is a 90-minute drive to our home. If you are unable to do so, and are uncomfortable or unwilling, to pay for my car in full before seeing it in person, then please do not bid on it. The highest bidder above my reserve price will be the lucky, new owner of this wonderful 1982 911 SC sunroof coupe. The sale will be final and payment is expected, in full, within 72 hours of the end of the auction. Once the funds (wire transfer) have cleared at my bank (Bank of America), then I will release the clean/clear Massachusetts title and, of course, the car itself. My preferred method of communication is by phone.I will NOT be responding to email. My phone number is:916-220-2460 and my name is Chris. Serious buyers please feel free to call with any questions you may have. Thanks and good luck.
On Apr-12-16 at 10:38:44 PDT, seller added the following information:NOTE: Sorry for any confusion - Yes, I am from California, but I currently LIVE in Massachusetts and my 911 SC is here on Cape Cod with a clear/current Massachusetts title in MY name. Please see "REASON FOR SELLING" in ad.
