1973 Porsche 914 Description

1973 Porsche 914 2.0 S the epitome. Some say that the 1973 2.0 is the one 914 to have above all others: With its highest horsepower 2.0 engine, light balanced weight, sway bar package, and all factory handling and comfort options included in the package, one receives a lot of bang for the buck. Road and Track magazine in their review of the sensationally new 1973 914 2.0, said that it was both faster than the 914-6 off the line, as well as better handling because of its more balanced weight distribution and front and rear sway bars. This particular car is one of those milestones. In addition to being a survivor this is a two owner original California car that has never been damaged nor corroded, retains at least 90% of its original paint, has its original spare, its owners manual packet, tool kit, and key, runs perfectly with great engine compression, and has been throughly serviced by our award winning Porsche 914 shop. This is a matching numbers car engine number GA002156. Among the few things we have done to this 914 are valve adjust, compression check (130 130 130 140) engine and transmission oil change, one trunk hinge cup repair and lubricate both, wheel bearing check and tighten one, brake check, shifter bushing replacement, replace a shift shaft seal, reconnect and check the dealer installed eight track am fm radio, (sounds great!) re coat the battery tray, replace the noisy alternator, check the dwell and timing, clean the trigger points, replace the rear sway bar link bushings, replace the leaking oil pressure switch, replace the ignition switch, and replace the rear spring set with factory original duplicates. Again this 914 drives perfectly, and as I am thrilled with it, you will be too. Please note that as you look at the pictures the two small rust areas in the notorious battery area. There is a small hole in the right rear inner wheel well where the battery tray had rusted (it was long ago replaced) and in the extreme bottom of the right engine shelf area where water sat with a clogged drain hole. The fuel pump has been relocated to the front, as per the dr914 fuel pump replacement procedure. This Zambezi green 1973 914 2.0 with brown interior is nice enough for all of the car shows and reliable enough to drive every day if you so desired, so if you decide to purchase, you can fly in and drive home, enjoying a nice road trip! A true collectible, the 73 2.0 again by many people's opinions is the one to have. Knowing the prices of all of the other air cooled models have gone through the roof, you can be assured that the 914 is and will soon follow. There is a reasonable reserve on this car. Call me personally or e mail with any questions: dr914@autoatlanta.com or 404 308 5652 George Hussey For those of you who do not know me, I am George Hussey president of Automobile Atlanta, who from 1978 has been buying and selling both 914s and their parts, and have devoted our life to the preservation of the car. We have the world's best 914 car collection including a rare 916, the world's best 914 catalog, have written a 914 book "tech tips 700 which Road and Track in their review, said "no 914 owner should be without it" and make over 275 replacement parts for the car. We have a full time restoration and service facility as well. Years ago they started to call me "doctor 914" and the term stuck! I examine detailed photo shoots of potential 914 purchases for individuals daily and give them advice, and can do so for you as well with no fee what so ever. It is important to me that everyone who purchases a 914 gets a good car for the money. They are great restoration projects as they are so simple and parts readily available. With that stated, I see many many 914s sell for very high prices that are not good cars for the money, and I feel sorry for the buyers. There are vast differences between a "good" 914 and a bad one, and with restoration costs upwards of 60 thousand dollars on some of them, it pays to spend more upfront as good cars are still available. My mulit page pamphlet "how to buy a 914" is available in another e bay listing or on our site autoatlanta. Drop me a line if you see a car you like, along with detailed photos, and I will give you my 40 years in the 914 business opinion.
