In 2000, Porsche developed and built a handful of race prepped GT3’s (total production of 66 vehicles) for track use only…the 996 GT3 R was born. UK based Ricardo Vehicle Engineering took this particular example a step further, beginning with a brand new chassis from Porsche. The chassis was stripped down and every seam welded in order to stiffen the body shell and improve torsional rigidity. (This would later be outlawed by Le Mans regulations) Weighing 2,442 lbs., (per Le Mans regulations) this very special edition vehicle is ready to run in Porsche Club of America or Vintage/Historic series races and boasts a laundry list of high performance enhancements for which no expenses were spared.
