1999 Porsche 911 Description

Here is a 1999 Porsche 996 Cabriolet with 101k original miles. This is a California car with a clear Carfax and autocheck with 0 accidents. This car is a beautiful Black Pearl color and looks great. The car will need some work but it is a nice car and will be worth the effort. Issue is the engine makes noise from the right side, mechanic suspects timing chain guide has worn out or cracked or a valve tap. Exterior wise, the black pearl paint is a beautiful color, it really stands out and is something a bit different. Condition of the paint and body is very good. I would easily call it an 8.5 of 10. Paint appears to be all original and is clean. Has a few small paint chips but nothing major. Convertible top looks to have been recently replaced but latch mechanism put a small hole dead center top, this has been patched and doesn't look bad. Top goes up and down fine.

Interior wise, the car is in nice condition. Seats are both nice and soft and have no rips or tears. Back rests are power and both work. Carpeting is in good shape with no holes and floor mats look like they were recently replaced. Door panels are both very nice and all 4 power windows work. Dash is in excellent shape as well as steering wheel and center console. Has a carbon fiber Porsche shifter and carbon fiber Porsche ebrake handle. Headliner is in good shape. AC not blowing cold and probably needs a charge of freon, All gauges work as well as the cruise control and 3 way memory seat. Has nice Alpine stereo system with Apline DRA 550 5-channel Digital Theater amplifier and subwoofer in passenger footwell area. CD changer is under the hood. This is a non smoker car with no bad smells.

Mechanically as I said, the car runs and drives well. But the engine is making a tapping noise from right side. Mechanic said it sounds like timing chain guide or possibly a valve. This of course is a educated guess coming from a Porsche mechanic who has rebuilt many of these engines, you won't know for sure until its opened. That being said, the car still runs and drives ok and all seems normal other than the noise. There are no check engine lights that have come up. The transmission shifts well and the car handles good on a nice set of Perelli P Zero tires. Battery is brand new, I have battery cover. Selling the car cheap “as is” I don't have the time for this car unfortunately, but it is a nice car and very much worth saving.
