2003 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 S Description

Up for grabs to the highest bidder is a really nice Porsche 911 C4S. I am a former dealer that specialized in Porsches and this car was going to be my daily driver until I decided to purchase an RV, so one toy has to go. I have extensive experience with Porsches as an enthusiast, dealer, and driver so please feel free to ask any questions. Here is what I can offer up as a description for this car:

If you are looking for a 996 C4S, I think this one is the perfect color combination (not too loud but still super sexy) and it is in great shape with relatively low miles. I love the C4S because you get the looks of the Turbo with the flared fenders, aero body skirt, air intakes in rear bumper, and better front end look…it’s just better looking that the regular 911 C2 or C4 996 body from every angle. The AWD gives it max handling abilities, the wheels are upgraded, and the interior gets many of the Turbo treatments as well like the suede headliner and power seat. IMO if you’re looking at a 996- it has to either be the C4S or the Turbo!

For the exterior, there are no real dents, dings, or scratches to note. From all I can see the car has original paint on all the metal panels and it appears that only the bumpers have had a little re-spray, presumably to cover up typical pitting from being on the road. All of the gaps look great and she drives out straight and tight. The wheels and tires are all in excellent shape as well. This car also has the upgraded xenon headlights and they are clear and bright.

On the interior, all of the leather is clean, free from tears or stains, and shows very minimal wear. The only areas where you may want to do some recon is the small trim piece on the driver side door panel has some leather peeling up a bit, likely from typical sun exposure through the window, and it is missing the cover to a small tray in the console that is located between the two front seats by the park brake. The original floor mats are in good shape and are covered by some additional all-weather mats. The suede headliner is in great shape and the sunroof opens and closes without issue. All of the internal controls seem to work fine, AC blows cold, heated seats and winter package all work well, and CD player is working great. All of the instrument panels seem to function flawlessly and there are no warning or error lights on.

Mechanically the car drives well with tons of acceleration power and handling—very hard to believe that this car is 13 years old! Everything seems to be in order and I would feel confident driving this car anywhere across the country. The car has been serviced by a PCA affiliated service shop, Concourse Auto Werks, and they have routinely cut open the oil filer to ensure that there are no metal shavings and have used a magnetic oil plug as well and this car has never shown any signs that some of these cars have shown with IMS bearing issues. IF someone wants to “buy it now” for $30,000 I will have the IMS bearing replaced by Concourse just to give you peace of mind, but this car seems to be past the mileage where they saw the most failures (about 5% of all 996’s) and isn’t showing any signs of needing it done. When they replace the IMS bearing, they also like to replace the clutch so that will be done as well, otherwise the high bidder can take the car as is, and consider replacing the bearing when the clutch needs replacing, which is typically what experts recommend for the 996 owners who are worried about a potential failure.

Again, I think this is a great car and I was excited to have it as my own, but right now I’ll have to delay my next 911 until I’ve got the room in the budget and garage for more toys. I’ve done my best to provide a detailed an upfront listing instead of just writing “excellent condition” like most anyone else would do for this car, but I’m a Porsche lover and know that anyone looking at this car would appreciate the details. I’m happy to engage with any third party inspection service you may wish to contract with as well, but please only bid if you are willing and able to complete the transaction.
