1985 Porsche 928 Leather Description
If you look at the photos it is hard to disagree that this about as close as you can get to a showroom condition 928s you will find (with red on red...at least)!
1 owner from 1987 until 2016!!Factory paint with no respray, repairs or accidents of any kind. Machine polished for the first time last may, paint is near FLAWLESS despite some minor very faint dark spots on front bumper from some coolant splatter in the mid 1990's (it is an isolated area and you really have to "look for it")...I still Factory books, keys (except the red one), blaupunkt radio (with it's manuals), service & warranty book (some dealer documentation from under 5,xxx miles), window sticker, factory locking lugs with key, 1 original title from April of 1987 when it was brought from Dallas, Texas (shows first owner's info on title with mileage, that title was believed to be lost and duplicate was ordered in 2014) also have every license since 1987 including old license plates!!! Included are original tool kit (complete), cargo net and super rare cargo cover, air compressor and jack ......
Weather seals, all rubber (including tires) and panel fitment seals are perfect since it has always been stored in 72 degree, private storage garage and COVERED since coming from Texas to
Iowa in 1987 with 20,xxx mikes at that time (have documentation on original title ) local garage did oil change and fluid "checks" every spring but that shop has closed and I do not have any of the hand written receipts .
The timing belt/water pump installed in 2001 with 39k (have documentation from Carousel Porsche in wayzata, MN). Some saturated oil around engine and does leave some minor spots but I would not consider it a "leaker", always maintained locally and major maintenance done at Carousel Porsche in the twin Cities since 1987 (they have records on file, not too much though with the last being the timing belt, driven very rarely since 2001...).The paint has maybe 10 extremely minor blemishes including a few dings that can easily be removed by a paintless dent removal person (I am a picky also and an auto body tech of 30 years, so they are VERY slight blemishes). Front lower air damage has one cracking on the driver front (minor). Undercarriage is normal for age and miles but would look new with a steam bath, brake, calipers, hoses, suspension us all excellent and shows when you drive down the road straigh, smooth without shakes.Interior shows minor, minor wear on carpet and front seats only! Never smoked in, never eaten, never has been abused or driven in rain from my memory, she really runs and drives like new.....not to many this nice still available, especially with guards red on factory "can can" red leather ($2351 upgrade on window sticker and I have NEVER seen another advertised for sale).
I also have original locking lugs, tool kit, cargo area cover and misc. paperwork pieces in the "books". it was originally bought at Mechanicsburg Porches in PA, then went to Dallas for 2 years before being stored in Iowa until now..... I purchased last spring form 2nd owner who is a close friend of my father's and at 90 years old, the family convinced him it was not practical to hold on to it anymore.... I grew up in my 20's driving and washing the car at every opportunity I could get, basically worshipping it! BUT now I worship my sons and my wife''s happiness first. I really do not want to sell it but we really can't afford to maintain it care for it like he did with a climate controlled storage.
These are the only "DOWN SIDES":Everything works as it should except A/C has not been functional since the early 90's, I believe the dealer at the time said a pressure switch (fan and heat works, belt is still on compressor).
"Low fuel" warning light is on while driving regardless of amount if fuel, porsche stated it needed new sender to correct in 2001 (documented, gage works perfectly despite). It is on the 2nd set of Goodyear gatorbacks since new (no cracking, over 60% tread left) except left rear was replaced with different style goodyear after a flat in 2006 and I can not find a matching used gator back to replace it! Sadly the originaland rare red floor mats were lost around 10 years ago (the family is still actively "keeping an eye out" in their buildings where they could possibly be stashed....) It now has
factory black floor mats but again, not what it came with from the dealer. Also lost is the factory "red" key....has other original keys including gas and lug key.
The car has rarely been driven and never publicly offered for sale until now.It can be driven anywhere with confidence!! yes, most will say it is time for another pump and belt but it has been inspected as deemed safe and good condition....It has been brought to my attention that auto check and carfax have listed thousands of IOWA cars with "not actual miles title ussued" in 2005 due to a "cliche" in their system when they switched over to ARTS title systems?? Aything that was older got affectedincluding this 928!!!. The carfax reads not actual miles after 2005 for every year after 2004 until present!!!! The state of Iowa is now correcting that with DOT and carfax, I have documentation from the state of Iowa via our cohnty treasurer that this IS being corrected with carfax and will now read "actual miles" with "buy back guarantee" and with an extremely high score and low records due to 2 owner's in 31 years and 2nd owner since 1987.
This car has actual miles miles of 41,xxx!!!
