1999 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe 2-Door Description

Hello and thank you for looking at my auction. My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. Buying your next car or truck through one of my NO RESERVE auctions is the best way to take the games out of your next automotive purchase. I personally road test each vehicle before it is offered for sale so I can give you my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind that I am not a mechanic. Each vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. Please take the time to read this entire description as well as our Terms & Conditions carefully BEFORE asking questions or placing a bid as most answers can be found in at least one of those places. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction.

Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a 1999 Porsche 996 Carrera 2. The 996 chassis was the first water cooled 911 and represented a major change in direction for the Porsche brand. Please be sure to thoroughly read this entire description and carefully review each of the photo's as this car is modified and there are things you'll definitely want to know before you consider bidding. I would rate the exterior of this 996 to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for it's age and mileage. As you can see, this is a gorgeous Porsche. It is finished in Guards Red over tan, which is a beautiful color combination. The finish has a mile deep shine and looks as smooth as glass. As with any older vehicle, please expect a few flaws and imperfections commensurate with age and mileage. However, you'd be hard pressed to find anything worth complaining about on the exterior of this 996 other than a few little chips here and there. The body lines and panel gaps are all nice and even. The bonnet, doors and boot all open and close easily. This specific 996 has a GT3 style aero kit, which gives her a very aggressive look. The onle front splitter has a little piece missing, but it is purely cosmetic and the piece is firmly attached. The factory alloy wheels have been upgraded with a staggered set of 19" alloys which look great and are wrapped in nice rubber with average tread all around. As you can also see, this car has upgraded suspension. It sits very low and looks great. However, the rear tires will rub the inner fenders on moderate to hard bumps because of how low the car sits. I haven't pulled a wheel off to look but I'd imagine this car has adjustable height coil-over suspension so you could probably raise the car up a little if that bothers you. Aside from a chipped corner on the left tail light, all the glass and lenses are intact. Again, please take your time and read through this entire description carefully BEFORE bidding.

I would rate the interior of this 996 to also be in AVERAGE CONDITION for it's age and mileage. The tan leather interior looks great against the Guards Red exterior. The door cards are clean and tight. The carpets are clean and full looking throughout the interior. The leather seats are clean, comfortable and show minimal wear for their age. The only thing I found that didn't work was the driver's window. I suspect the window motor is the issue. The factory stereo has been upgraded with an aftermarket CD player and equalizer...but you can't really hear it over the exhaust, anyway. The climate control system is fully automatic. The heater doesn't blow as hot as I think it should, but all the controls and fans work properly. The trunk is clean and spacious.

Mechanically, this 996 appears to be in good running and driving condition. The 3.4L flat six starts easily and runs smoothly. I didn't notice any leaks and the engine does not smoke. I'll start by saying that the exhaust sounds like it is completely open. I haven't crawled under it but I'm pretty sure there are no cats and the muffler is probably straight through. It reminds me of my friend's 996 race car. You also probably don't want to be standing behind it after a cold start. The suspension feels tight and well sorted. You can hear a little rattling from the swaybar endlinks...but I found a brand new set in the trunk that will go with the car. I'll say that I don't care for the suspension set up on this car, personally. I think it follows the road a little too much...but that's probably easily changed with a few adjustments and an alignment. Of course, the check engine light is on. I'm sure it probably has everything to do with the fact that this car has a straight exhaust so I haven't even bothered to check the codes. When I bought this car, I had to top up the coolant. I haven't seen it leak anywhere and I haven't had to top it off since. The low coolant light flashes, but I've checked it and re-checked it and it seems to be holding so I'd blame a faulty coolant temp sensor, at this point. I feel like I've said nothing but had things about this car so far...but I'm just trying to be hard on it and picking it apart. The steering feels good and the brakes stop this car with no issues thanks to large cross drilled rotors all around. The engine keeps good temperature and feels very strong. The Tiptronic transmission engages smoothly and seems to shift properly. I didn't think I'd like the Tip at first but it's not bad. Out on the highway, she cruises easily and and is quite quick. Please keep in mind that I am basically a wholesaler. Please don't ask for service records, vehicle history or a bunch of technical questions...because I don't know. This is a wholesale vehicle being offered directly to the public with NO RESERVE. The Porsche 996 is at the point where they can be had at a fairly cheap price and there are enough of these on the market that you can most likely find the car for you if this isn't it. I know she'll need a few things but please keep in mind that this Porsche is being sold with NO RESERVE so bid to own and please be serious. If you require financing, please have that in order before you bid. If you need to ask permission from anyone, please ask before you bid. If you don't know anything about these cars, please educate yourself before you bid. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
