Porsche 914 with small block chevy engine, rust free, ready to paint
1972 Porsche 914 Description
My Dad several years ago started a project but never finished it. He took a rust free 914 and put a small block Chevy engine in it. The engine was professionally rebuilt to pretty much stock specs, as I remember.
It has the radiator in the front where the spare tire is stored and has a anauxiliarycooling fan.
He built a custom console and put fourgaugesin it to monitor the engine parameters.
The center battery in the trunk is the battery location, the extra to the left is just sitting to try to start.
He bought new 916 style front end, rear end and rocker panels. The original rockers are under the fiberglass ones. He then prepared the car for paint with primer, but never did paint it.
The interior is pretty much gutted. Just one seat. The dash is there and has the famous crack at the ash tray... but at least it is very, very small.
. The battery "hellhole" isoriginal and there is no rust down in thearea underneath.
I tried to start the car the other day,but wasunsuccessful. I am guessing that the points are corroded. Yes it has points in thedistributor(for those of us whoremember).
The one picture showing different primer color is notdifferentprimer, just left over from washing it. It dried more as I took more pictures and the sun dried it.
It has been in Dadsgaragegathering dust ever since he stopped work on it. Never outside.
The car has headers and a custom exhaust with two mufflers.
This is pretty much it, as my father has passed away.
