1980 Porsche 928 5 Speed 2-Door 4.5L
1980 Porsche 928 2 Door 5 Speed Manual Description
I purchased this 928 with the intent of doing a high quality restoration while at the same time being able to drive it whenever I wanted to. I recently received news that I was being re-located and with the logistics involved it was very clear that this was a car that would ultimately end up being put in storage with two other vehicles for who knows how long....so it's time to clear out some garage space.
This is a 1980 Porsche 928 with a hard to find 5 speed transmission. It was repainted its original Schwarz Metallic Gray approximately 4-5 years ago according to the previous owner. It shows very well with no visible rust on the body and does not appear to have been driven in the north from the looks of the undercarriage. There are no apparent signs of any crash related repairs/bodywork. There ARE two small dings in the passenger side plastic door molding(replaceable)- see photo - but no damage to the door itself. All of the glass is intact with no cracks. Power windows work properly with documentation of repairs. The electric sunroof works properly - the motor for it as well as the seals have been replaced. The AC is cold which in Florida is a must. The hood shocks are weak. The stereo is a Blaupunkt however it is disconnected so I have no idea if it works or how the speakers sound...the radio antenna is inoperable as well, but the mast is there in a lowered position. All of the dash gauges work properly and the odometer turns as it should with no obvious signs of roll-back or replacement. The dash has about three cracks in it but the previous owner sent me a new, in the box, dash cover when I purchased it - this will go with the sale of the car. I would rather not install it myself as it is something that I have not done before, nor do I presently have the time to do.
The car starts right up with no visible smoke. I've checked for any fluid leaks and after sitting for a week in one spot nothing was observed. The car runs well, steers straight and overall handling is very good. It brakes very well with no pulling. The tires are consistent all around and have plenty of rubber. I have not noticed any unusual rattles/noises or odors. Listed below are parts/items that have been replaced on the car over the last several years- all of which are documented with the receipts that come with the car - it totals well over $10K in parts, maintenance and service work. The most RECENT repairs and maintenance items are: New fuel injectors, lower fuel filter, oxygen sensor, steering rack with hoses and boots, battery and lower door seals. Within the last 2 years the timing belt and water pump were replaced (68K Miles) as well as cam shaft and crank shaft seals. The shifter and leather boot have also been replaced. The AC system has had almost all components replaced. I'm probably forgetting a few things but should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
The car is being sold as-is with a clean and clear Florida title. I am happy to assist any buyer with coordinating transportation. My reserve is priced fairly, so bid with confidence - Thank you for looking !!
