Several HiPo mods; Bursch exhaust, dual-plug heads, Bilstein Sport shocks, oil cooler

This is a rare air-cooled 911SC Coupe, due to the extremely low original mileage. The Coupe model in particular is appreciating considerably faster than the S&P 500 these days. The SC 3.0 Liter aluminum-block flat six is derived from the 1976 930 Turbo engine design, and is known for smooth power and longevity. This car is easy to drive and affordable to own.

The 911SC (SC stands for Super Carrera) models are old enough to qualify for antique designation in most states, and therefore not subject to emissions inspections, and qualify for classic car insurance coverage (check your state regs).I am able to insure this vehicle with zero deductible for under $500/yr with Hagerty. These SCs are the last model to have NO expensive computers to fail and leave you with an expensive repair bill.

Owning a Porsche also allows you to join the Porsche Club of America, which is really a treat. The club will conduct all kinds of events - social gatherings, guides drives thru the countryside, and track events with instructors that show you just how well these cars will handle, while maintaining safety and fun. These models are always an attraction at a show or track event, because they are becoming less common every year. The red over black color scheme also attracts attention.

You could approach this investment in several ways, but I would implore you to drive the car as it is for a while and fall in love first.

Find your local Porsche Club and try an instructed track driving event. This car is set up for it already:Recaro Racing seats, wide-offset wheels, Kumho summer tires, lowered ¾ inch from standard USA setup, Bilstein Sport shocks, racing-style oil cooler, and Bursch performance exhaust. This will show you why these cars have the reputation they enjoy. The mileage is low enough that you can drive this car for a while and STILL have a low mileage classic air-cooled 911.

Restoring this car to the original condition will result in a higher resale value, makes a fun project for the DIY person, and qualifies you for concours events with the Porsche Club.Look at what restored 911 SC Coupe models are selling for eBay – then note the mileage. Most of the cars you will see are showing over 100,000 miles. And remember, the Targa models are always worth less than the Coupe.

I have owned this 911 for 4 years and drove it for less than 3000 miles.I rarely drove it to work, and mostly drove the PCA Drivers Education events (ie: instructed track days). The mileage in the last 2 years is well under 500.I am just not using it very much, and drive a newer Porsche that I can use for PCA events.

This 911 deserves a more enthusiastic owner. If you have read this far, it should be you.
