Here’s your chance to own a daily drivable rust-free 6-speed 996 for less than a used Toyota Camry. The engine alone is worth around $6,000-7,000 so it would be hard to lose at this price. The car does have a salvage title due to hail damage. The car was sold at an insurance auction and brought from Texas to Utah. That said, the car has not been crashed or repainted. The front panels (hood and fenders) have been replaced with used parts from another car, ensuring a perfect color match. I don’t think the car has ever had any paint work done on it. The rear trunk panel has not been changed out and has a few remaining pock marks from the hail (see photos). As long as you’re willing to live with that, it’s really a great value. Paint is glossy and cleans up really well. Has a few scratches and dings about usual for the age of the car. Zero rust (Texas car) Top replaced in the last year. Window is clear and no scratches Tinted windows Glass is in good condition with no rock chips. Headlights are in good shape. HID option. Front fenders and hood were replaced from a car of the same year. Therefore, it’s all original paint. Optional BBS 2-piece wheels are in pretty good shape, but a couple do have some minimal curb rash. The Bad: Pock marks from hail still remaining on top surfaces of the back of the car (see photos). Small crack in rear left taillight. Front two wheels are missing emblems on center caps. Interior The good: Dash has no damage or cracks Headliner is good Seats all work Windows all work and seal up quietly Mirrors work Radio works Carpet looks good Has black mats up front The bad: Driver's side seat side bolster has split and duct taped together. Seat heater does not work on driver's side. Rear seat on drivers side lower section is bad condition. There is one for sale on ebay right now for $79. Center console and shift knob have signs of wear. Engine Only 107k miles Nice exhaust growl. I think it might have the muffler bypass modification. Oil is topped up an clean All stock A/C blows cold Chassis Suspension and Tires Rust free Texas car Tie rod ends seem to have a little rattle/play ($25 each from Pelican Parts) Tracks straight Suspension looks good. Struts seem tight. Drives tight and responsive. Brakes have plenty of pad surface remaining and stop smoothly without any warping. Vented discs Rear Tires just replaced less than 1000 miles ago. Toyo Proxes 275/35/18. Tons of tread on front and back. Continental ContiSportContact 225/40/18 up front. Transmission/Drivetrain Clutch has plenty of grab Transmission occasionally pops out of gear when driving at low speed/deceleration. Works fine when upshifting. Car has enough power to skip 2nd alltogether so you can get by that way if it bothers you. Overall this is a great value for someone looking for a cheap 996. It's worth well over the asking price in parts alone. It would be a shame to part it out, but if you need parts, it could be a great way to go. Car is located in Lehi, Utah (Salt Lake Suburb). Available for local pickup or I can coordinate with your shipping company. Car is listed on several local classifieds and I reserve the right to cancel auction if car sells locally. Please don't bid unless you can pay. Don't waste either of our time. |
