The manual transmission works flawlessly and feels great. This vehicle has never seen any track time or been raced. No pets were put into the car either. It recently had maintenance performed by Tuners Motorsports that included oil & filter service, engine air filter, cabin filter, drive belt, and had the convertible top hydraulic cylinders replaced. Previously, the car was only serviced by dealerships. This car has spent its life in Florida, it’s never seen snow. CARFAX shows no accidents or damage was reported on the car.
2008 was the final production year for the first generation 997 Carrera models and was Porsche’s best refinement of their 997.1 model.
The exterior of the car is in excellent shape. The paint of the car is Brilliant Black. There is no paint peeling, fading, scratches, or scuffs anywhere on the car. It is in great shape for the age and mileage. The convertible top is in excellent shape as well with no fade or tears and the rear glass is perfect. The front hood and bumper has a few chips from road debris which is not uncommon on a driven vehicle, but the rest of the paint is in great shape.
The 997’s were designed by Porsche with improved aerodynamics, increased brake cooling and better handling.
The interior of this car is beige/tan and has been kept in very good condition. No tears in the seats, or the carpets. All of the functions are working as intended; the A/C, radio and all power functions work perfectly. All of the dials and gauges perform perfectly as well. This Carrera is equipped with Porsche’s Active Suspension Management system (PASM). This system allows for the driver to select from two different modes of suspension, Normal or Sport. Using adjustable shocks and an accelerometer, Porsche has enabled the capability of lowering the car 0.4 inch depending on the mode the driver is in. On top of adjusting height, this system also adjust the stiffness of the suspension by varying oil flow within the shocks. When the driver presses the brakes, PASM will stiffen the shocks that will prevent body roll and dive. On the other hand, it will adjust stiffness of the shocks to compensate for squat when the driver accelerating and shifting. PASM makes this car perfect for all sorts of driving whether it’s daily driving or spirited driving on the weekends.
The interior was designed by Porsche to be a better improvement from the 996 predecessor. More leg room for taller drivers, seats mounted lower creating a lower center of gravity and more headroom. The standard seats found in this specific Carrera S feature a patented system designed to absorb vibrations better on long distance trips that many had complained about in the 996 models. The seats are also 6 pounds lighter than previous models and more stable. Even the steering wheel was completely redesigned and Porsche chose as standard their dynamic three-spoke design that is adjustable in height and reach and made out of a lightweight composite magnesium which reduces the weight compared to previous aluminum steering wheels. Porsche always goes the extra step to shed weight and improve performance!
The motor of this car runs smooth and effortlessly. When compared to the base Carrera model, the Carrera S model boasts Porsche’s performance 3.8L flat six engine, producing 355 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque that not only accelerates zero to sixty in 4.6 seconds, but gives a top end speed of 182mph. The motor is strong on this vehicle and has no hiccups or issues preventing it from being in top shape.
If you are looking for a great daily driver and cruise down Ocean Blvd on the weekends with the top down, this is the Porsche for you.
