1973 Porsche 914 Description

This is a NO RESERVE auction for a beautiful Beach Boy Racing (BBR) "Monterey" Roadster equipped with a ZZ4 crate motor with 350 horsepower out of the box which weighs the same as a Porsche 3.0 H6. The newly rebuilt transmission and new ZZ4 have less than 8k miles. This is 1973 Porsche 914 that was converted in house at the BBR location in Venice Beach California which cost upwards to 35K without the car, suspension upgrade and engine cost. This started as a rust free California car, which was very well taken care of, it still has one key that functions on all doors and ignition. It was then brought over to BBR by the previous owner in 2002 below are what was done to the vehicle:
* Convertible Conversion -Fully Functional Convertible Top with Boot Included
* Windshield Raked back 3 inches, the front quarter windows was also cut to match, this completely changes the look, beautiful factory look and matches the body lines. (note: some BBR conversions without the raked windshield does not look as good, it does not match the sleek contours of the new body)
* Body Kit was installed beautifully, please take a look at the link below to view additional pictures.the kit consist of the following Fiberglass Rear Fenders Fiberglass Front Fenders Fiberglass Front and Rear Bumper Fiberglass Rear Spoiler Steel Rockers Stock doors, hood and rear decklid
* Interior is very clean and very well put together. To begin, the stock dash was removed and replaced by a leather wrapped 911 dash by Getty Design. GT Style seats were installed with matching back pad and also matching RS style Door Panels. A very nice Suede MOMO Steering wheel and custom gauges (Autometer) are in place. Alpine Stereo and finished up with a Vintage Air Heater and AC unit under neath the dash.
* The stock 914 front suspension was removed and a complete 1988 911 Carrera front suspension was transplanted, its complete with 3.5 inch spacing on the calipers, vented 911 rotors, and equipped with the stock 911 Carrera sway bar on the 911 torsion bars.
* Chasis was reinforced (Please see pics in the link below) Longitudes was completely rust free and Reinforcement Kit was welded accordingly and even was signed by BBR with its initials welded on. Very solid with no flexing...I can jack up on one jack point and the side of the car will lift and the doors will still open and close perfectly.
*Wheels and Tires are Custom 3 piece Lightweight Forged wheels by FIKSE. All four are 17 inch tall with the rears at 10 inch wide and 8.5 inch in front. They are also fitted with brand new BF Goodrich G-Force 275/40/17 and 225/45/17 (Over $5k retail just for the wheels and tires)
*901 Side Shift Transmission was sent to Renegade Hybrids to be rebuilt with taller gears to match the V8 torque curve. It was returned with the 1st gear blocked off and the 4 spd can cruise at 80 MPH under 3K on the tach at 4th gear. Renegade Hybrids Adaptor was also used for the V8/ to the 901 transmission.
*Engine ZZ4 Crate Motor with Custom Headers and Exhaust System
These Chevrolet Performance ZZ4 350 C.I.D. 355 hp turn key crate engines include all of the necessary parts to get your engine running. With over 405 ft.-lbs. of torque, the ZZ4s are the best way to put an aluminum head, 4-bolt main block, roller cam, high performance small block between your favorite fenders. The aluminum angle-plug cylinder heads have screw-in rocker studs, 1.94 in. intake and 1.50 in. exhaust valves, and 58cc combustion chambers that yield a crisp and responsive 10:1 compression ratio. Also included are lightweight valve spring retainers, radiused valve seats, and valve stem seals to help keep the oil where it belongs. To complement the cylinder head design, we've incorporated a billet steel hydraulic roller tappet camshaft with a .474 in. intake and .510 in. exhaust valve lift. The combination makes 355 hp at 5,250 rpm and has that great-sounding musclecar idle, with just enough lope to let people know that these are no station wagon engines.
