1998 Porsche Boxster, 59k 1 Owner Miles, Easy Project, All Original, No Reserve!
1998 Porsche Boxster Description
You're viewing my 1998 Porsche Boxster with 59,885 original one owner miles. I bought this car from the husband of the deceased owner last year with intention of restoring it. The car was only driven a few years when the wife came down with cancer and passed away. The husband no longer had interest in the car and it was parked and put away for many years. Unfortunately as you may know, when you open the door the window electronically drops about a half an inch, then closes up tight again once you shut the door. Well, he had opened the door when the battery was just about dead from sitting and the window didn't go back up. Water got in when it rained. The floors are rock solid with no rust whatsoever but the bad news is Porsche engineers put the "brains" of the car in the lowest point of the car...yep...under the driver's seat! So the ECU is damaged and you will need a new one from Porsche (about $500). I was in the process of having all this done last year when my mechanic was involved in a terrible motorcycle accident. He had to close his shop, and just prior to the accident the ECU, Immobilizer and Key were sent to a company who specializes in reprogramming/repairing them. When the accident happened, everything halted and the parts were shipped back in their damaged unrepaired state. I got everything back but unfortunately I have misplaced the immobilizer. I cannot imagine what I did with it, but it's no where to be found! Not a big deal...a Porsche dealership can program a new one along with the new ECU to this key for what I was told less than $1,000. The car is wearing all original paint. Never in any accidents. There are a few minor dings that you don't notice unless in just the right light/angle. Original paint should buff out really nice. The soft top needs replaced as you can see. The interior is in good shape but needs a good detailing and leather seats conditioned. They are in good shape with no splits or tears. In the pics there are some water droplets on the seats as I had just washed the car and some drops got on the seats when I opened the doors. Rims are in great shape. Tires are shot from sitting. Headlights need buffed out or replaced. According to the original owner, the car ran beautifully but he lost all interest in it when his wife passed. I had planned on restoring the car, but I recently purchased a Cayman and no longer have the desire to proceed with it. It should be a pretty straight forward process, and not that expensive to complete. With less than 60k original miles the car is barely broken in. The doors close like bank vaults...solid and smooth. As you can see in the dash pics, there are no cracks or sun damage and all the warning lights work when you turn the key (test mode). This is a non running non driving project that should be easy to get back on the road. Please ask any and all questions prior to bidding. This is a No Reserve auction, so the last bid wins. Bid to own, not to "think about it". I require a $500 PayPal deposit immediately following the auction so I know you're serious and not some kid playing games. I've had that happen several times and not only does it waste money, but it wastes time relisting and taking away the opportunity for sincere bidders to actually win. Remaining balance is to be bank wired within 3 business days following auction. Please...if you cannot do this, please respect my wishes and refrain from bidding. This is a really nice car and someone is going to get a good deal! I am a private seller/collector and there are no warranties expressed or implied. Clean clear title, in my name, in my possession. This is NOT a flood car. Thanks for looking and happy bidding!
