1972 Porsche 914 Targa Description

Up for auction is a 1972 Porsche 914 4 cylinder 1.7L convertible in absolutely amazing condition, considering she is almost completely original from bumper to bumper, with the exception of the steering wheel, cassette player, and the horn assembly from what I can tell.Rolled off the factory line in January of '72.She's been sitting in a garage, tarped, since 1991.A little over 50k original miles on the engine.I am the second owner, the first owner being an elderly man who hasn't driven at all since he parked her in '91.I recently acquired this beauty as a restoration project (if you can even call it that), but cancer forces this sale, as I'm having to get rid of a few toys here and there.I sold my motorcycle a few weeks ago, so now it's her turn.
The body is in great condition, chassis is straight, no wrecks, just a few dings here and there, and very, very little "dust" rust, and no cancerous rust (for lack of a better term). This car actually has an air conditioner, a rare find in 914's. A must-have for the state in which she resided (Texas). Since she's been sitting for so long the engine will need to be gone through (all gaskets, hoses, etc are desiccated and need to be replaced).Luckily, gas was left in the engine so there's no interior rust present. A few small dings here and there on the exterior, but no major dents (see pics). The paint looks to have touched up by the previous owner with the original silver metallic paint. Light "dust" rust on underside, but all parts intact and operable. The engine is not locked, and can be turned. Restoring the engine and having this as Sunday-drive-classic-car was my original intention, but the treatments have me pretty worn out.Gears, tranny, chassis, Targa convertible top, leather, dashboard, windows, so much of this car is so amazingly preserved considering the age and originality. Not a single crack in the dash and the original leather looks like it's brand new... I felt like I found a Babe Ruth baseball card in the attic when I came across this girl. The battery tray is still in tact, and it is not corroded in the area underneath the tray, like so many 914's. I even have the original key.I also have the previous owner's scheduled maintenance service book, and the manual to go with it.If you have the time and patience, you could make twice as much as my buy-it-now asking price, just parting her out.I would hope that the next owner puts in the little effort it will take to get her on the road again, as I think it would be a shame to part out a complete and original 914. I have clean title, and car is sold as-is.You will need a trailer if you are local. If you require shipping, all arrangements will be made by the buyer, and buyer will be responsible for all costs involved with shipping. I live near Dallas, TX so make sure your shipper of choice comes out this way. If you need help with arranging to have it shipped I will help in any way that I can. Any other questions, feel free to message me. Thank you!
